the problem really are some photographers bringing LADDERS stopping the contingents from moving forward, i frowned upon that! you cant stop them from dancing and moving forward to take a picture! pfff

I was at mango.. out of 20 people swarming sa contingent 3-4 ra ang nag dala ug ladder.. they can mount and dismount as fast as fast as sa mga photographers na wai ladders move in and out sa way... last year ni agi pud ko mango padong sa fuente... mao ra man gahapon ni hitabo pero ang kalahi.. isa ra gud na tao ako na kit.an ato time nag ladder..

this is the bottom line of any photo event at hand!

although at different circumstances, media photogs in iraq, afghanistan, etc. Pay much and take risk to enter shoot and preserve a point in time in their dslrs. They may have some complaints but mostly these are considered as comments when they win pulitzer prize.

If we do intend to cover festivals (registered or not) we take risks, do some sacrifices and go with the environs at hand. E.g. Plane and hotel bookings, travel, poor festival management, unruly crowds, rash and bullying photogs, pushing contingent cordons, etc. And most specially the weather. You should read the spanish fora in these festivals (that is, if you can comprehend spanish), brazil's mardi gras, spain's bull run festival, spain tomato festival, etc. Or the colorful holi festival in india - involves covering everyone in colored powder and water.

I have noticed most registered photogs flout their being as p750 registrants. They expect when they focus and point their lens on something they have an instant clear view. In brief, they expect double standards. I saw a "masculine" lady photog who was complaining and calling the attention of a group of pretty lasses who were enjoying posing and taking photos of themselves in the inner parade area. She-he was swearing and saying "unfair" - most probably after paying p750 and swallowing her-his pride wearing canon vest and holding d5000 and yet photogs with no ids are having the time of their life in the parade grounds. She must have missed several shots indulging in this petty matter.

Everyone (from all walks of life) wants to have a good time in sinulog and that is why it is considered a parade festival. Like myself, the vest issue really got into me. But i still joined yesterday's sinulog as last year's registered photographer. How's that for "adapting to the situation and shooting".:d

To those who have ladders, I suggest have it modified to have wheels with lock para sayun ninyu ipa dagan hehehe - ge hasolan ko tan aw ninyu. I hope you really got great pics.

mga 3pm-5pm nag ka anam na ka way au ang crowd control...
mga tao du.ol na kaayo sa mga dancers... especially pag agi sa abs-cbn na float...
ni dumog tanan tao...

1 thing ako kalagotan kay katong mga tao na mo kalit rag dagan nya magpa picture sa festival queens...
samok kaau wala bayay passes... tsk tsk tsk...

kadto contingent after sa abs-cbn float..kadto bitaw silver dust ang show sa ila costume...hambugero kaau..di man pasulod sa ila rope...

its not the ladder ang naka langan, the photographer himself/herself using the ladder is the responsible if he/she engages fast and takes off right away when the parade carousel moves.

even if a photographer has no ladder or chair, kung dugayan ang photographer or ga pa-ugatay lang dinha og shoot dili mo hawa dayon inig human og tira bisag nag forward na ang parade, dancers should be affected.




ive seen non-photographer people(viewers/tourists) with no authorized ID pass suddenly enter the cordon and stupidly & forcefully grab the dancing queen for pictures. asa ka ana, gasayaw ang contingent in a climax stage unya gi bitad og kalit kay magpapicture, pwerte sigaha sa akong mata. no security personnel there ever mind to bother.
