And he's using a pastoral approach on the issue thus it made me recall of what JPII did with his assassin.

@redemption32: I am not going to deny that there are a few bad apples in the church that do those things but in the case of Tagle, who is the topic in this thread, I haven't heard that he has done such a thing.

I do understand your arguments but I also have my own opinion on this issue. No hard feelings. Good night and God bless!
Klaro man sa article bai nga wa sya kabalo asa mo stand. one of the main issue atong time sa pag resign ni pope benedict was his failure to solve this growing problem. So if you are a Candidate for papacy, natural ra nga maghinayhinay jud ka sa imong mga commento about ani. Mao nang niingon ko nga sagol politika & good PR na( sa ato pa, "PaPOGI" during elections). You say it was sa pastoral approach, fine, imo sad na. But naa ba jud syay gisulti nga he was really against sexual abuse inside the church? Did he say that he would they hand over the accused compared to what was done previously? Did he encourage the victims to take legal actions? Wa koy nakita sa article ana..naa ba? Ang ako rang nakita is he was just promoting compassion to the PRIESTs who were accused (dili ang mga accused in general ha) . he did not say that he was taking a stand to end this growing problem inside the church.

If ang police/soldier makasala bai, they will be assigned to a desk job or confined to barracks sila while they have an ongoing case (yes, they have to face their case). So limitado na ang ilahang responsibilidad while naa pay caso. If ang pari makasala, i assign lang sa laing lugar? Whaat? Asa ang justice ana?

Among the known cases in the country was that of Leyte-based priest Father Gabriel Madangeng Jr., who was accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in 2006 and a 17-year-old in 2009. The priest had since been re-assigned to another parish.

If* "reassignment" is all they get for raping a minor, then there's something horribly wrong here. There's a difference between caring for the accused and meting out justice against the accused.

    * A resounding "IF", if the case is still pending

The authority could put the accused priest on contempt of court,
if he does not appear during specified court heaings, but non so far did happen,
otherwie the proceedings should continue, if he is found guilty then place him
on the the authorities wanted list.
I think it is as simple as this.

The justice system is not that lame,
it could prosecute anyone who dos not follow the rules of law,
and it is a separate independent government body,
not even the judicial nor the administrative had the influence,
how come men in religion are being incited.
