my perspective to this is that, if you love your belief above all things, then don't switch, just stay with it. but if you love your "GF/BF" than your religion and you really fight your love than your religion then go.

different beliefs may cause fight, but once you give each other a respect on what she/he value of it will not be a problem. embrace the differences and be open minded on what others think.and never compare.

my mom and my dad have different religions but i cannot see a better couple staying together and loving each other more than them. and growing up in this family inclines me to believe that the issue on religion is trivial when you have respect for your partner. personally, however, i would still like to end up with someone who shares the same belief as I do.

for me it will always depends upon the situation.

For example:

If both of you have no conflict and can truly understand each other no matter what beliefs/religion you have then there's no need for you/her/him to adapt his/her religious belief.

But if it is the main reason for both of you having conflicts with your beliefs about God especially when you have children, then better one of you will adapt his/her belief just to make you both as one. That if someone of you is willing to adapt? Maybe for the right time and reasons...
