    Smile my first 42k

The gap between water stations were just perfect, water was abundant, very good moral support from those who man the stations. Energy drinks, choco, banana, isotonic drinks at each station, really helped the runners.

On my way to Mabolo, got a power bar in front of Iglesia, and I swallowed one-fourth of the bar forgetting that I needed water to push it down, my bad, and it stuck right on my wind pipe. Well, i did choked for a minute or so that I have to go back to the station a few meters backwards to flood my throat with water.

Going to the 35th - 39th km, I was practically walking. I tried to push myself harder but my legs were giving away. And I don't want to end up in an ambulance. I keep reminding myself not to do a john pages on my first 42k, so I slowed down and tried to focus thinking that mango avenue, capitol, escario, gorordo and jy were just 4k before the IT.
I kept pouring myself with water up to 3 glassful to keep me hydrated and cool. By then the it was past 8 and the sun was burning my skin. My first ever run past 8am.

But to my surprise, those from that station near Lahug Brgy Hall, about a kilometer from the finish, poured me a spongeful of iced water. And whoa, it woke me up.

In front of that unfinished temple past Lahug Elementary School, I said my last prayer, "Lord give me the last ounce of strength to make it before 5hr"... "promise mag binut an na lagi ko."

True enough and i saw the light, whatever light it was, i also forgot unsa'y wattage ato nga light, basta i made my last ditch and sprinted all the way to that small cheering crowd at IT.

No, i didn't raise my hand at the finish, I didn't fall and I didn't collapsed so there was really no drama about it.

But I looked up at that big digital TIMEX clock at IT, it clocked 4:5++:++.

Catching my breath, I bowed a little to recover the dizziness.

Now who says prayers are not answered minutes before you say it.

    Till our next marathon.
