Well, here's where the education budget goes.

I just calculated an interesting figure using the best numbers I could cook up.

P145 billion is about US$3.45 billion.

The Philippines has about 30 million people under 14. I know some of them are not in school, but most people from 15-16 are and so it should even out fairly well to be a rough estimate of the number of pupils. in the country. If anyone has a better number, let me know.

$3.45 billion divided by 30 million people is only about US$140 per year or P5740 pesos per pupil.

The USA pays over $5,000 per pupil for even its most underfunded school districts. That's 205,000 pesos, and I don't think any of our teachers feel they are overpaid.

Even if I'm wrong and there are only 15 million pupils in your school systems, you're still talking about under 10% what even our cheapest school district pays.

I know the Philippine school system is not considered among Asia's best but the surprise is that it works at all on such a meagre budget.

In short, I doubt that there are the resources available for the education system to be corrupt, unless parents are charged in some way outside of the government budget.

kadumdom ko sa LTO chief sa amo province nga niingun if iya masapi sa usa ka adlaw 30k lang dli igo sa iya 5 ka pamilya! hahahaha... sa bagay dli man sad money gkan sa buwis sa mga tawo kung dli gkan sa mga tawo nga mo process sa LTO! ang nakalahi kay sa uban nga agency pareha sa DPWH gkan man jud sa budget sa gov't ang ila gikurakot!
