i started the thread for FIBA AMERICAS... is not that im hear to prove that USA cant be defeated... i was presenting my view... based on what I've observed, others have observed.. and based on stats... can you dig that?! ..

    sixxxling hotx!
I was also mere presenting my view which is a reality...it's up to u if u can't dig that basing from ur previous post...Have u seen the game against Greece? as far as i can remember the US team was having a shooting drought during the game and they can't defend the pick & roll which keyed Greece to victory...that's y I presented this scenario...
Well those who dunked the basketball from the free-throw line actually stepped either a foot or a couple of inches beyond the free-throw line...hehehe

borgy1981 calling iskoLares..yes it's related 'coz what happened during that game is exactly what I'm presenting here...the possibility of a shooting drought...yeah any bball coach has a plan b...which I can assume "dunk on everyone?" hehehe yeah right...ONLY carmelo anthony showed signs of attacking the inside defense with his own moves (meaning not receiving any pass from JKidd, Kobe or Lebron)...which I'm wondering y can't their 3 bigs can't do wherein individually they are far superior athletically & genetically against the competition....yes they are used to doing one on one against NBA opponents day in and day out but they were given specific plays and their PG is looking for them...what im stressing here is attacking the inside defense within their offensive scheme, which is a rarity..I'm hoping to see it in the semis and finals..hopefully..

kinsa nga big 3 ni bro?.. Kobe, LBJ and jKidd?.. if so... Jkidd is better known for setting up his teammates.. LBJ showed flash when Melo sa OUT due to slight injury... and Kobe?... who needs Kobe to score if everybody's scoring.... and Kobe is having fun feeding his teammates.. lolx..

kung si Chandler,Amare,Howard ang imong gi mean sa big 3.... hmmmm... i think the only legimitimate postup player here is Howard... Amare is not comfortable with his back against the rim.. then Chandler is far better known for defense.... at least that's different "moods" on the frontcourt with each player playing a different game..

i'm only talking about here sa 3 big men....i know what the big 3 can do (LBJ, Melo & Kobe)...yah different moods but it might have the same result if the scenario I raised earlier will happen...I'm just wondering y they are not attacking their opponent individually at times, especially within their offensive schemes..they just can't solely rely in their outside gunners...they should take this oppurtunity to polish what they can do or what we call variation of their offensive schemes before the Olympics...

I'm referring to Amare, Dwight & Tyson since the other BIG 3 is a shoo-in for this team since w/o them saonz nalang...My point here is when time comes that their outside gunners are not making shots, they would be having a hard time scoring points, especially if they won't be able to force interceptions - that would lead to fastbreaks (another highlight please....) -- which is very possible against Argentina (w/ Manu, Oberto, Nocioni, Sanchez back in the fold) or Greece, Spain, Italy and those other Euro teams...I'm still skeptical about their second 5 or backups since there are times they're stagnant playing each other, wherein they should polish their offensive schemes when they are fielded during blowouts...also, regarding their big men, I'm still doubtful regarding their offensive contribution especially if they won't be receiving those passes which would lead into dunks...I haven't seen them consistently score within their offensive schemes, it's all lay-ins, dunks...though they should be getting this type of scenario basing from their competition but come Olympics, I doubt they would have those easy points come their way just like what they're getting now...
Because that's how Howard, Amare and Chandler plays. Actually, they're on the receiving end most of the time because USA is playing a running game, thus most of the time the ball is either in the hands of the point guards or Kobe, LeBron and Carmelo so they could create plays for themselves and for others.

Regarding their defense, USA gets a lot of steals which leads to fastbreaks and what if they can't get interceptions? They too can play half-court basketball at both defense and offense and especially that they've got Jason Kidd who can run a play smoothly, Kobe, LeBron and Carmelo who could all go one-on-one if they really need to. Argentina indeed is playing superb basketball but if USA plays as a team combined with their individual skills, lisod gihapon kaayo sila pildihon.

As what was pinpointed in one of the posts, USA has to improve their zone defense because it will give them a much greater chance against Argentina and European teams. It's still a long way to go before the Olympics and I do believe Coach K is doing his assignments very well. One way or another, this line-up is already so strong enough for other teams.

Yah we all know that their bigmen are on the receiving end most of the time because they are playing a running game, even in their half-court set, they are also receiving "blind/lob" passes from their guards..but my point here is they should consider studying how Scola, Batista moved around on their offensive schemes, there's a difference in mere standing/setting screens and knowing where to go next and y...which I haven't seen them do this consistently, theyd get lost sometimes; even their backup guards (redd/miller/willliams) -- wherein they are crucial in creating/orchestrating their offense... let's watch and see this semis & finals..hopefully there would be improvements...

these guys have only been together for a few weeks or months, takes time to familiarize with the system and the way each other plays, if the USA can keep this core until the Olympics, they're going to get deadlier

For sure there will be improvements. Take note that these guys has not been playing for so long yet and if I'm not mistaken, such team is formed just right after the NBA Finals.

Anyway, USA is just a win away from the Olympics so one way or another, they've got a very successful tournament.
