i acknowledge the harm democratic vote can do to the losing voters, but i am left at a loss on how to go about the issue.
Why should we regulate the vote and exclude some of the citizens from voting?
- because they maybe incapable of voting wisely based on the information provided by biased media
- because they may inconvenience the entire populace by their lack of ability to vote wisely
These are valid reasons but there is a basic counter argument for these. Will there be an assurance that the non-voters will also not be inconvenienced by the possible wrong choices of the voters?
another counter argument is that it would be unconstitutional in a double standard kind of way. the people with the right mental capacity can vote while the rest can't? it would also defeat the purpose of our democracy.
however, i believe that can be addressed in a constitutional reform. the problem with this is that a politician can never do away with this because the masa represent a large portion of the phil. population. in short, sayang ang votes. tilokon gyud na ang numero taman sa ginhawa. unless, of course we also change our gov't system, which renders the intention moot.
haha chill nerd.l.
How can we even start to discuss about solutions when in fact there is a fundamental problem regarding our identity as a nation.
You guys wanna have a genuine strong republic? an economic juggernaut? THEN WE SHOULD KNOW OURSELVES FIRST BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE..
