proud sad ko sa mga beach nato ,
clearly you did not count those who brought each other down
and the thought they patriotically promote as a fact that "filipinos are united" or "help each other"
is casting a big shadow of doubt on me.
Unsa't currrent status nato karon reflects who we really are..we made our own beds
and dili tah mu point ug blame sa mga politiko here and there...blah..blah...blah
I know naa talent and skills and some virtue ang Pinoy....but go tell that to our 3rd world swimming in debt, economic turmoil, political disunity
i just heard in the news that the philippines is the new social networking capital of the world.
so?
will that bring food to the tables of the poor?
know what, the media, being run by the oligarchs, have something to do with this proud to be pinoy mentality
if the media only focuses in dissecting issues of our country and the world, the citizens could've been educated about these issues!
example? UK riot. THE HELL WE CARE IF THERE WERE THREE FILIPINOS WHO WERE HIT BY THE GUYS IN UK WHO DID THE RIOT?!
I MEAN, look! we need the details of the riot, not that stupid "there-are-filipinos-who-yadi-yada" thing. murag CNN ba! focus on the events, not how many nationalities who were affected etc. coz honestly, do we care? will that make a difference to their safety in london if we guys in the Philippines were informed about their situation? A BIG NO!
another example, the japan quake and tsunami last march. (and a lot of reporters pronouncing tsunami as CHOO-NA-MI, seriously?! gitrain ninyo ang inyong mga reporters? abs-cbn, GMA? it's pronounced SOOO-NA-MI, not CHOOO-NA-MI, bunch of m0rons!) - i really hate the philippine media to be honest!
"isang pinoy ang..."
"wala pang nauulat na pinoy na nasawi..."
"dalawang pinoy ang kumpirmadong buhay..."
that sort of thing! c'mon! we need the information regarding how many centimetres would the tsunami be in different parts of the world, how strong were the aftershocks, the damages.
nya mag-una una man gud ning mga anchors nga for example, naa silay kainterview sa skype, "kamusta naman ang mga kalagayan ng mga pinoy sa japan?"
BS! that question is really unnecessary, if it is, the anchors should've asked it later in the interview, or if the interview is about to end
naa pa jud
example sa mga balita
"Isang pinoy ang nagwagi sa..."
"Grupong chuvachenes fil-am nanalo sa hiphop dance..."
"Pinay sa california, sumikat sa youtube..."
"Pinoy chef nagluto ng ginisang daga sa white house..." (i would love to hear this)
I conclude, that the media really has the big role with the proud to be pinoy mentality.
And thus, the media should change, they should deliver REAL news, and not crappy news, like those examples I posted.
Hinuon , as a Philippine-based media nga most of the viewers are Filipinos , appropriate pud nga mangutana unsay "kalagayan" sa mga Pinoy didto sa mga nasud nga nagka-gubot ... as long pud nga dili lang e overreact ang issue nga 30 minutes jud ang news about ana . With exceptions nga OFWs nga kontrobersyal nga gikasuhan nga deserving jud like Flor Contemplacion nga it was believed that she was under duress during interrogations .
Anyways , what if those Pinoys who got victimized by the looters or rioters are already British citizen ? Are they still Pinoys ? What if they're British citizen of Filipino decent , ankonon pa gihapon nga Pinoy sila ? Just like sa mga celebrities are of Filipino descent nga angkonon jud nga Pinoy sila like Vanessa Hudgens , Lou Diamond Philips , Phoebe Kates , Black Eyed Peas guy and so on . Mu-ingon dayon nga "Pinoy pride" or "Mabuhay ang mga Pinoy!" tungod sa mga achievements nila .
What if nga ming renounce na sila sa pagka Filipino citizen kining mga "Pinoy" ming sikat or katong Chef sa White House (Ooooops , you have to be an American citizen to work in any government agency. I just looked up Cristeta Comerford's bio - she jilted the Philippines at the age of 23) . Singgit gihapon mo ug PINOY PRIDE even though nga ming renounce na sila sa pagka Filipino ? It's so obvious nga wa sila masikat tungod sa ilang pagka Filipino , nasikat sila tungod sa ilang creativity , initiative , og sa ilang hardwork .. and luck (for a good measure) . Just because nga Filipino citizen ka doesn't mean mas smart or talented ka compared sa other citizen sa ubang country . Pure BS !

same ra sab ghapon nga not that recently they are proud that in global recognition the Philippines is one of those ranked as the highest of the most youngest of generations who are computer users or computer "literate".
wa lang sila kabalo kay tungod sa games---counterstrike, ran, dota etc. and the real productive use of the computer and internet are sidelined...instead mag research for school or other knowledge tua sa internet cafe nag duwa.
same ra pud to those FB ra ang gamit sa internet and even the simplest of questions mag lisod pa nga naa man unta ang internet di kabalo mu research.
Talk about false bravado and drunken sense of pride for pete's sake
your posts were highly appreciated
now it proves that the Philippine media has a huge contribution with this rotten "proud to be pinoy" mentality
abs-cbn, gma, can you be more like of CNN? how's that?
OT:
again...ABS-CBN want a piece of the lime-light riding shotgun with the current fame and glory of thePhilippine Cobra Dragon Boat Team.
Again its a classic "Willie Revillame" being generous, charitable and supportive move---donate2x ug 1M pesos
...ang highlighted and ma kita sa general masses is the "generosity" worth 1 milliones pesosesosess....pero pug-an pud maayo sa network and face & media value sa team nga maka kwarta pud sila more than thrice sa ilang, more on investment than charity 1Million
