so as hyundai cars, engine barred from starting whenever lever pos isn't in park... how come monty don't have the same.?... strange!

korek nothings perfect as we say it, and ang trauma dli ma bayran...
ang part kuno nga mag malfunction is kato air vacuum that would regulate the air going to the intake manifold. thats a new technology mitsubishi is using for the montero. what would happen is the ECU would give more gas because the air coming in to the manifold is being choked by the part said.
the hard part is, its difficult to catch the problem since its intermittent since you cant recreate the issue easily.

as for the buyer, he was informed and told why the car is being sold. he knew the issue but did not care about it, and it was mitsubishi who sold the car to him.

and why would we defend the car when its lives that are at stake here??

chocking issues napod? i hope this isnt the same as tungod sa dirty diesel like sa d4d's before pero maybe kani sa mitsu na case kay ma choke niya ma dungan tanan ug pagawas mu na mu sudden accelerate... or maybe tungod sa air intake sa monty is more positioned below ma na ma suppress and air coming in...

I don't think sa dirty diesel Kay ang sa may air intake man ang ma choke. I just hope they find out unsa jud ang reason and not blame the owners for not reading the manual...

yes your right bai... i dont own or havent driven a montero ... but i have driven and tested the fortuner since i was with toyota before... to cut it short... im certain i said torque... yeah at 2000 rpm... i got those figures sa specs sa montero... once again wala jud ko nilaban ... i was just explaining na possible na mahitabo... as a mechanic man gud... maskin unsa na brand basta nice ang innovation sa makina ofcourse mopabor mi... mao cguro ni ana ang taga casa na read the manual... back to montero.. even my friends na amaze sa vgt version(model gtv) nila karon... a 4d56 based engine 2.5L pero grabeh ka taas ang torque... much higher kaysa 3.2L (strada) nga dili vgt... pero as soon as makalugar ko i'l try to test it for myself jud kay mao mani ang usa ka service sa company...and na intriga sad jud ko ug tino.od ba na dili ra kinahanglan tumban ang brake para mo shift ka from park to drive...kay really kung wala na nga safety feature then kuyaw jud...

why is it that most of the montero's SUA owners/victims choose to buy toyota afterwards? wala bay lain kapili-an na SUV? kinda fishy to me, harharhar!!

IMO, maybe these were the case of a panicked driver stepping on the accelerator rather than the brakes. there were few peeps from tsikot who did a test by flooring the gas pedal from a stand-still and stepping the brakes with the left foot right after. according to them, the truck did not even move at all.

maybe, but just maybe this is how it happenned.
- driver step on the gas, thinking it was a brake on a stick shift vehicle
- turn on the engine at Park mode
- shift the lever to Drive while the gas is floored, lol

non-vgt monteros are slow on quick start so there should be enough time to react by stepping the brakes or pulling the hand brakes on.

also, one poster here (the one who had accident beside the church) said that when the montero went wild, the driver shifted the lever to 1st gear and did other stuff without mentioning on stepping on the brake. di ba brake gyud dayon atong tamakan og magkinaunsa?
