there is a 50mm 1.8 e mount with os pa. if more on portraits bro cia, get the 50 nalang and when budget allows get the 16 mil pud. most of my photos are taken with the 16 mil. ok raman pud, lingaw rasad na lens. wa na gyud nako ma gamit ang 18-55mil. like edwin said you can use your nikkor lenses on the nex. if you have G lenses, just get a nikon to nex adapter that comes with an aperture control gl bro!

Bro Edwin_sn - naay 50mm f/1.8 bro (check: NEX Interchangeable Lens | 16-50mm f/2.8 Standard Zoom Lens | SEL-50F18 | Sony USA) daghan kaayu salamat sa inputs.

Bro jordinho - i have decided mo buy kog NEX-5N basin early next year pa. pero dili ko ganahan sa kit lens, i would rather get f/2.8 or 1.8 aperture bahala akoy mag atras abante hehehehe. sakto gyud ka bro, kana naa kay 16mm 2.8 mahog nag di na ka mogamit sa 18-55mm na kit lens kay nindot gyud ang dako aperture naa koy mga nikon lens since i owned a d90 dslr so nex-5n would be enough for me. impress gyud kaau ko sa iso handling aning nex and 10fps pa gyud, lupig akong karaan na d90 hehehe.

bro jordinho and edwin_sn -- salamat kaau ha sa inyung feedbacks...

For portraits, it is always better to use longer focal lengths ranging from 70 to 200mm. A 50 is good but sometimes will give you a little distortion specially when you shoot nearer to your subject. 85 to 135 focal lengths are ideal. For NEX bodies having a 1.5 crop factor a 50 would be good. The sony 16/2.8 is considered wide-normal lens, thus not very suitable for portraiture. You can actually use your 50/1.8 with an adaptor to your NEX. But since its an AF lens, you will be shooting wide open all the time when mounted to the NEX body. There is a work around to change the aperture of your AF lens though, but could damage the mechanical & electronics parts of your lens when done frequently so i dont suggest it. But Here is how you do it:
    1. Mount your AF lens on your dslr body.
    2. Set the aperture you want in AV mode
    3. remove lens from your camera while you press and hold the DOF preview button
This will lock your lens to that specific aperture that you just set. Now you can mount it on your NEX with the adapter with that aperture but you will be shooting at that aperture only until you do the sequence again in your dslr to set a different aperture. And when done frequently, it can damage your lens since its not designed to have its blades frozen at any aperture all the time unlike the old manual focus lenses. For me personally, i prefer the 85mm focal length for portrait

depends sa imo type of photography sir, want wide? or want flexibility? personally i have both and i use them on different occasions.. my 16mm f2.8 when i want to go light.. its quite wide by the way, 24mm FOV, so careful ka sa corners coz of distortion. additionally, i recommend that you use it with the UWA and/or the Fish-eye adapters, accdg. to sony, no light loss daw and it gives you a wider, 18mm and 12mm, respectively.

sa 1855 naman, flexibility of the zoom. its got OSS and nex has an awesome high iso capability, so ayaw kaayo kahadlok. ) if makahuwat gyd ka, i highly recommend the sel50mm.

if you can find some old pentax or olympus manual focus lenses your photo taking experienced will brought to a different satisfaction. These are relatively cheap lenses but are very nice for M4/3 bodies with adapter.

np bro, you'll have fun with the nex gyud bro. 80% of the time i take the nex out with me and the D700 stays at home.
