Swami Sriyukteshwar Giri (1855-1936), stated that God is nameless, because God is beyond our comprehension and no language could ever give God a real name. Nevertheless the ancient Sage who wrote the Rig Veda stated that "the One has been given many names by the wise ones" (Rig Veda I:164:46).
If -- as it has been said -- God is a perfect and loving parent, I am sure that God will cherish the names that we imperfect human beings have given Him/Her... names that have sprung from our loving hearts.
What is the true name of God? The true name of God is that name that we in our imperfection infuse with love and call the Beloved One. I am sure that God will respond to that name of love, for it has been said by many prophets and saints that God is Love and that God responds to the Love in our hearts.
So in conclusion, I will dare to say the true name of God is LOVE in all the languages of the world.

none of you was able to answer my question. 'the Lord is the one and only Lord, He is His name and nothing else.' calling Him any other name than what was preached on catholic norm is a sign of weakness in faith. 'bro, promise that i wnt steal again' is a weak statement for the prayer does not even address God Himself. the contract can be breach on account of Commandment no. 3 for the person can argue he didnt promise anythng to God, but to a so called 'bro'. if this kind of habit is embedded in youngsters, they wont really get the importance of the name of Jesus.
