the jejemon statement was a joke. but it produced a reaction from you. i bet some who read my statement saw it also as a joke. this just illustrates that there are 2 sides in every issue. its illogical for you but a joke to me. that's the dilemma of CAIB! Where to draw the line.

Then we should all put like ... joke only... kidding only or a hahahaaha after every joke ... if it meant to be a joke. Remember, just like texting, we are void from human expressions. So don't assume that everyone who read feels the same way as the writer does. That's why there are 2 sides in every issue because the writer wasn't specific enough to convey what he feels or what it meant to be.

I saw the movie two decades ago and it didn't change my faith either.

The catholic hierarchy don't want films like that because they know that their members are ignorant enough and can be persuaded to join other churches. It is one reason that catholics are not Bible readers because it they read, "...the truth will set them FREE..." So, they say that only the priest should read the Bible in its entirety because they are the only one who can interpret and understand it while the rest of the congregation or church members are the ignoramus kind - what a shame to those who are educated and until now don't like to read the Bible.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Bullecer is a catholic and only following the instructions of the church rather than the state. He wouldn't risk being excommunicated har de har har...

The next CAIB chairman also is a catholic. So, do we expect the same dog but different collar scenario? I have a feeling that it will turn out to be the same as it was before.

I hate to think otherwise but I will give the new chairman my trust and confidence that she will be making changes and hopefully gain our votes.

Wishing her all the best and luck.

Back to the topic of indecency, the CAIB had spoken out against "indecent entertainment"

I just heard that the Cebu City Anti-Indecency Board (Caib), through its chief, my friend Rene Josef Bullecer, has formalized the complaint through a letter to the Movie and Television Review and Classifications Board (MTRCB). Bullecer criticized the Sexbomb Girls and the song's lyrics ("Spaghetting pababa, pataas") as "bastos."

I could not blame Bullecer for saying that, after all, one does get hot just watching the sexy and pretty Sexbomb members wearing skimpy attire. But that is only a matter of appearance. The truth is, these girls do not talk bastos and, beyond their dancing, do not act bastos. They are your typical shy girls just trying to make a living through sheer talent, dancing and singing.

As for "Spaghetti," maybe moralists should understand the lyrics first before acting jumpy. This isn't your song with double meaning a la "Arrayy!" Rather, this is in the mold of Yoyoy Villame's "Mag-exercise tayo tuwing umaga" I mean, only the really malicious would consider spaghetti as a phallic symbol and "pababa, pataas" as alluding to a sexual act.

I think Bullecer and like-minded people maybe missing the point here, or more specifically, may only be skimming the surface in the fight against pornography. Going after the "Spaghetti Song" may create ripples, but in the end it won't mean anything because it won't hit the real monsters, like nightspots doubling as prostitution dens, pirated pornographic vcds, etc.

Funny, if appearing (or expressing) something sexy is bad, how come the CAIB did nothing when it comes to local dancers appearing sexy in front of the audience? Local variety shows organized here occasionally had sexy dancers.

Taken on August 1, 2009 at Ayala Center Cebu, these local dancers await their turn behind the stage. They appeared like that in front of the people passing by. The variety show in this pic was organized by GMA network. Some complained the dancers here looked "scantily clad"

And here's a video of another GMA-organized variety show held in Ayala Center Cebu some years before. Don't they look kinda erotic for a live audience?

YouTube - buzy buddies - janet jackson

The CAIB was active during the times of the above two events.

    Local community dancers dressed sexy.

What will the CAIB do when they see them perform in front of a live audience like that?

Hopefully the new CAIB chairman won't be influence by Mr. Bullecer's interpretation of what is indecent to society. The picture shown above are not indecent because they are showing only their sexy tummies, legs, lower backs and beautiful faces. But if they dances with erotic interpretation then the people should know how to react and CAIB will do its part. It will be easier for CAIB by then since there would be mobile evidence to show how they dance in public.

if those girls would do the grind infront of the audience, then it might be indecent!
