nice kaau ang shots
i'm not for the reason: the original lens cap & hood that came w the cam will no longer be useable. in other words, you will need to buy another set if you want them in your cam.
the alternative of using 52mm filter works to most, incl mine, though the end thread of sx1/10 weren't design for that purpose. i'm just using a uv filter as a lens protector & no intent of getting any other filters soon. so, it's staying there for now. mine is a thin sigma one. fits perfectly. i suppose the lensmate is advantageous if you intend to use different lenses and/or keep changing them as to not ruin the cam's thread, just my thoughts.
post some pics
i am using three brands of filter lenses and none of them harmed, and cut the ring's thread. they are fitted perfectly as if they were design for. no need for a force in installing due to its "silky smooth"^^ and grips good. the filter lens' thread is perfectly fitted to the ring's thread. the threads have extremely narrow gaps of which cut or any harm are avoided. try it for yourself.
vignetting,as we all know, is common when you are stacking filter lenses. even with that lensmate adapter plus compatible filter lens. but never had vignetting with a single filter lens attached.
