@omad: The Phils is not equipped to handle something as major as this. Bahin ang ma-activate kay Pandemic Un-preparedness Plan. The only thing I can think of that will work in our favor in case ma abot ning swine flu sa Pinas (simbako palayo), kay atong geography. Because we are separated by islands, if the virus arrives in Manila, we can quarantine the whole of Luzon itself, and not allow anyone to travel to Visayas or Mindanao. Imagine how fast that virus will eat up a congested area like Metro Manila, nga gahuot lang ang mga tawo.

wa man to na apektahan ang pinas sa SARS noh...murag di pod siguro maapektahan sa swine flu? i'd like to believe the virus gets killed by the heat, sea breeze, or something.

edit: ay sayup. we were affected by SARS

I believe you're right, sis. Usually ang flu season dire, from Nov to March, the coldest months of the year.

i don't think ang swine flu is affected by heat kay init pud bya ang mexico.. but lets just hope and pray na dili lang mu abot diri and if simbako muabot man gani, lets hope na kusgan atong immune system para dili kaau ta ingana ka apektaran.

^ that (in red) is easier said than done.

resulta: MV Princess of the Stars

@dorothea: naa ra mam...Evidence for benefits from treatment in studies of seasonal influenza is strongest when treatment is started within 48 hours of illness onset. However, some studies of treatment of seasonal influenza have indicated benefit, including reductions in mortality or duration of hospitalization even for patients whose treatment was started more than 48 hours after illness onset. Recommended duration of treatment is five days....

that it wont work if symptoms have been noted more than 24-48hrs window period!

Ang gihisgotan nga 5 days ana, "duration of treatment". The standard treatment regimen for Tamiflu must be started within 1-2 days from symptom onset, and the duration of treatment is 5 days. The start of treatment and the "duration of treatment" are two different things.

Mao ni ang standard regimen for Tamiflu and Relenza:

Treatment -- twice a day for FIVE days

Prophylaxis -- once a day for TEN days

yep, pero naa man sad ni: However, some studies of treatment of seasonal influenza have indicated benefit, including reductions in mortality or duration of hospitalization even for patients whose treatment was started more than 48 hours after illness onset.... so bisan after 48hrs pwd pa, naa man ngadto sa imo reply nga waste of money na after 48hrs or 2 days after..
