There's a difference lang gyud sa genuine when we talk about OPEN source. In Microsoft, no matter how genuine your software is, you cannot modify and redistribute it. In short, you don't totally own it. However, in Linux, you are free to view and modify the source codes and pass around the way you want it coz it's yours. In short, you can do whatever you want with your own property.
