depends on your reasons and if you know how to use it. IMHO pulling out a knife is like pulling out a gun. it raises the stakes and will likely get you or someone else killed. It should not be used as a deterrent
, and should only be used as a LAST resort. In other words you should have a high respect for the blade, know how and when to use it. for self defense, you'd probably be better off with pepper spray or a stun gun.
