US wont allow that. Our relationship with the U.S. is not similar to that between U.S. and Israel. Deep ties kaayo nang Israel ug U.S.
Even if the U.S. would want us to have nuclear weapons, they wouldn't dare to look hypocritical for our sake and incur even more problems, which is understandable. China will do its best to smear and antagonize Philippine and U.S. interests. We'd get kicked out of ASEAN, and aside from the sanctions, diplomatic relations will be more than sour. Worst case scenario, we become one of the rogue state.
Nuclear Arsenal - definitely a no. Use of Nuclear energy - maybe but we will be acutely scrutinized by everyone.

Newly acquired warship sails home.
SAN DIEGO–The crown jewel of the Philippines Navy is on its way to the Philippines the BRP Ramon Alcaraz PF 16.
The ship was acquired from the US Coast Guard in 2012 and underwent renovations and testing for the past year.
The 378-foot long battle shipped is equipped with twin Diesel engines and a canon, but also the comforts
of home — with Filipino cooking on board and balikbayan boxes full of gifts from the Filipino community in South Carolina where the ship departed from last month.
It’s the second ship the US has given to the Philippines in the past two years as the Philippine military continues to upgrade its fleet.

"FAIR WINDS and FOLLOWING SEAS"
With regards to the Nuclear Topic, we all know that we are not that war freak people, we are trying to defend a country not to invade one, so Nuclear warfare is out of the question.
one more off topic post and someone will get a reward.

nuclear is too mainstream... and its too expensive... would rather spend money to research on bio-chemical warfare technology... then just get delivery system from the market...

Aguinaldo Class
we had and we failed badly... dunno if its design issue or just we are not yet capable then... the best way is to design indegenously and have it outsourced on our local shipbuilders...
