bmi is based on height and weight.. not on lean mass.. i don't know why i have repeat this again and again.. ok.. i am obese fine.. but i'm lean.. what does that mean? ^_^ there is many of us.. including bodybuilder author like Tom Venuto or fitness models.. like Greg Plitt, Rob Riches, Ryan Baptist, Obi Obadike and etc... anyway.. basically everyone with lean muscle.. What i am saying is.. I am speaking for the majority.. athlete or not.. people have to start losing fat and maintain lean muscle.. Bmi don't speak for the majority either.. since it assumes everyone don't have that much lean muscle, but high fat.. so if you lose fat, you lose weight.. and bmi can't measure those who are disabled or missing limbs.. di ba? so daghan cya ug gi tang tang.. akoa.. everyone is even.. has missing limbs or what.. we can still check the fat percentage without determining the height, or weight.. since too much subcutaneous fat and visceral fat is harmful for the body.. dli nko mo discuss further.. since i'm sure you know already..^_^

about ato akoa gi ingon na being overweight na obese, obese is overweight.. but more than that weight.. I know about the levels.. ako lang gi state ana.. para in layman's terms its easier to know the answer, not everyone has the knowledge about this.. why would we want to make it difficult to understand dba?

I'd be happy to discuss about metabolism based on genetics, formulas and formulas for calorie intake. its ok with me ^_^ stick to the topic kay mas importante mka sabot ka ani first before ta mo proceed diha.. ok? but if you think about it.. weight loss and metabolism are connected to one another... as one person loses muscle, metabolism goes slower, slowing down fat loss... the more lean muscle the more our body can burn. ^_^ who would want to eat less? everyone wants to eat alot and not get fat right?

I'll give the example, one of my clients.. He looks normal.. yes, and I measured his height and weight.. yes, it is on the ideal body weight.. based on BMI. I measured his body fat percentage.. it was more than 25% which is? obese.. prone to health problems.. kana lang.. masabtan na cguro na akoa gipasbot oi.. hehehe but if you want i can give you the full details.. para makasabot ka sa akoang gipasabot.. hehehe ^_^

sorry.. i am a fitness trainer.. and i specialize in nutrition and being fit.. everyone who listened were successful.. but anyway.. i don't think you should know more about it.. and since you don't care.. lets not talk about this.. cause you think i am wrong then so be it..
once again.. I said "obese by fat percentage"
I won't waste my breath too.. thinking i am wrong..
then the whole fitness industry is wrong if you think i am..

I thought i'd help.. but again.. i can't... Need man gyud authority.. then if dli.. then no need to post facts... i'd like to post more bahin ato kay daghan man backup research mga scientists and different nutritionists.. and I'm also talking about the well being.. because if you are at your ideal body weight with a big fat percentage.. you are likely to get health problems as stated above.. ^_^
The best way is to meet me in person.. a lot of people wanted to be in my state or to have the same lean mass.. not knowing i am "obese" based on bmi.. then again.. let us speak of the majority.. not everyone is lean.. yes.. but that doesn't leave them/us out of the equation.. I am big boned too.. as I reached to small fat percentage of 6% I still have a big waist, muscle and bone less the fat, but it is a size 28 ^_^.. but that still doesn't put me out of the list of being checked for fat percentage.. right now i maintain a fat percentage of 12-15%.. xD

Anyway, enjoy happy days guys... last nani nko.. sorry for the big OT.. pointless helping out.

Visceral fat is worse than subcutaneous fat but it's hard to measure it without expensive MRI. But I agree that fat % is more accurate than BMI if you want to measure overall health. Still there are people with low body fat but poor cardiovascular health due to poor eating habits and lack of exercise or bad genetics. The best way to measure your health is through regular blood tests measuring HDL, LDL, triglycerides, etc. There are a lot of people with high body fat but good test results in which case it's not really necessary for them to lose too much weight unless they are doing it just to look better.

    agreed... thumbs up to that...

but this will relate to my fitness tip and best way to lose weight.. is to maintain muscle while losing fat.. as muscle burns more calories than fat or increases your body's metabolism ^_^.. it doesn't matter if your weight stays the same.. normally sad.. these people who have low bodyfat with poor cardiovascular health kay lack of lean muscle cla.. kay lack of exercise man ^_^ and in general taas ug bodyfat can lead to health problems.. but yeah.. i agree to your statement.

    @ KRUSADE ....

Tuod sakto .... we are discussing here how to lose weight but if it affects health , it defeats the purpose . Just continue to share your knowledge bai . I have learned also from you . Daghan man gyud technicalities kay continous baya ang process and procedures ani .

Even MONROY ni mention na about something sa good and bad cholesterols na like the Triglycerides , VLDL , LDL and HDL . Samutan pa if mo involved mga saturated and unsaturated fats , hydrogenized fats etc which we dont really get information and education sa fitness centers samot gyud ka rigor ang utok because " nagpa enroll ra baya ko aron mo niwang " hehehe which is the normal reasons why people wants to get fit .

yes.. not all fitness centers provide that information, some put on bulletins with those information, like Citigym and Kandaya Fitness.. well.. not that i am associated with them but thats what i've observed..

Don't be afraid to push yourself hard... drink lots of water... determine calorie intake.. it helps alot with fatloss..

yup partly agree.. pero dli lang cya pang long term...
cardio, yes.. it helps sa ato-ang cardiovascular health.. from the term lang daan.. hehehe.. and yes you burn calories during the training.. but weight training, you burn calories during the training, from sleep and recovery, and when you build muscle you burn extra calories.. so in general.. weight training is the best way for fat loss and weight loss... if you have to chose and spend 1 hr in the gym.. cardio/weight training.. the best choice should be weight training.. you can incorporate cardio in weight training when you reduce rest intervals per set.. that way.. you are doing high intensity interval training(HIIT)..

and the best way is to make it a lifestyle.. agreed as said above.

Since there are no benefits to going below 15% body fat, I think that people who are moderately overweight or fat but who have good blood test results shouldn't think too much about dropping too much weight. The only reason why athletes like going down to 8% or even lower body fat is for competitive purposes (like martial arts) and for aesthetics (bodybuilding). There's no reason for an average person to really go that low and I think this can even lead to burnout and abandoning of the workout regimen which is worse than following a reasonable workout program with realistic and maintainable goals that you can follow for the rest of your life.

So I guess I'm saying I don't really agree with the thinking that people should push themselves the hardest they can. They should follow a program that is easy to do consistently because it's better for someone to jog 15 minutes 3x a week for the rest of their life than run sprints for 1 hour everyday for a few months and then give up cold turkey cos they now hate working out and it's impossible to get out of bed looking forward to that 1 hour workout instead of a leisurely 15 minute jog... I'm speaking from experience, and I know there are people who can handle this but I think these are in a very small %...
