Stargazing - How does it make you feel?

I just took a "vacation" from airsoft myself BTW, my fascination with optics and telescopes actually helped airsoft once...kasi I didn't have a sniper scope, and at one time I owned an M14. So I made one (complete with crosshair bro...I actually used REAL HAIR, my own hair haha) using an old pair of binoculars. I was too shy to bring it to a game kay basig kataw-an ko (hihihi) but it was really good, sayang I left it back in Iligan eh

Really? you are speaking my dift mam... I will keep that in mind. I plan to get an MP5 and combine a differnet scope for uit. still saving. Ang ka tropa ko wants to have all AK's with silencer like the one in the TV Series "the Unit"

Yes hahaha OT na kaayo. So yeah, I'm vacationing from airsoft...I'd rather aim a scope to the stars rather than towards people for now haha

So to stay on topic...when I look at the stars I feel nostalgic, why? Because I know I am actually seeing the past...why?

Well light, even though travelling incredibly fast, it takes a while for it to travel through the vastness of space...it travels from their area of space to our area in tens, hundreds, thousands of YEARS...so the starlight that you see now actually travelled sooo many million billion miles to reach you--you are seeing the stars as they were, not as they are...so if you want to travel back in time, it's very simple...look up the sky on a clear night, and gaze at the stars...by then, you'll realize you're actually gazing at the past

there is a slight change though, i always looked at this one star that comes out every 6pm and now it comes around 7pm na or close to 7pm

Of course it changes...the earth is going around the sun...naturally the "backdrop" of stars around the solar system changes with a shifting vantage point of a revolving earth...if it was Sirius you saw...

Then TODAY, this is the position of Sirius at 7:00PM, about 30 degrees above the EASTERN sky...

...pero look...last December 24, 2007...ALSO at around 7:00PM, Sirius was VERY LOW and almost STILL at the horizon...

There is also the remote possibility that the reason for the changes in expected time of rising/setting is when you're actually observing a planet, rather than a star, but this involves an entirely different set of orbital mechanics that I won't even post here at the moment for lack of time for a proper explanation.
