    Thats the whole point . Look at cities , counties , countries right now legalizing it . We should learn from them . We should grab that oppurtunity of attaining the positive note and study asnd provide silutions for the negative side .

    @GIDDYBOY ...

    How do we measure something to know if it is ready or not ?

    @GODSAINT ...

    Before asking that question , did you "Look at cities , counties , countries right now legalizing it " ?

    Cities legalizing prostitution becomes home of drug trafficking,corruption,Child prostitution.That's why some district in netherlands and other countries have already decided to end this up.Who will be benefited with legalization,prostitutes.How about wives that will be affected with STD,broken marriage etc.In other countries maybe but in the Philippines ..The number one christian country in the world,i dont think so.

    Even if PROSTITUTION is NOT legalized , DRUG TRAFFICKING , CORRUPTION and CHILD PROSTITUTION will still be there and will always be there no matter what . Now by LEGALIZING prostituion , that might help end CHILD PROSTITUTION / CHILD ABUSE VIOLATIONS .

    Who will be benefited with legalization,prostitutes.How about wives that will be affected with STD,broken marriage etc.
    These are scenarios that also happens even when PROSTITUION is OUTLAWED . STD and BROKEN MARRIAGE ? Maybe the latter but STD ? That is another scenario where when we legalized it , it could put an end to it or lower / lessen it .

    In other countries maybe but in the Philippines ..The number one christian country in the world,i dont think so.
    Mao lage ... the only COUNTRY in the world where the PRIEST / MINISTERS / PASTORS etc runs the nation hehehe .

    Theres no need to gamble on a no win situation.

    we can't really measure it but only thru indicators. we are ready when:

    (1) the catholic church keeps its hands off the affairs of the state (which is next to impossible).
    (2) the president (and other politicians) are not afraid of losing the support of the church (which is also next to impossible).
    (3) the church's views does not necessarily convert the same to the people's views (good thing we have plebiscites)
    (4) the strict, effective, and efficient implementation of protection for children & women abuse is in place.

    legalizing it a no-win solution? to whom? for the church it's a no-win solution due to morality issues. for the state (again, assuming no church meddling), it's a win-win.

    there is a big difference between what the religion says what is right and what the state says what is right. although the state is also considering what the religion has to say regarding an issue.

    just like casinos, lotto, cock derbies, red-light district & marijuana in amsterdam, genetically modified organisms (GMO's), artificial birth control, same *** marriages, divorce and pre-nuptial agreements. they're supposed to be immoral but hey, they exist.

    so please, this is not a religion issue only.

    That makes more sense now . Again it boils down to the INVOLVEMENT of the CHURCH . But then again , being the FIlipinos we are , would that still be a factor considering there is an effective and transparent view of the sep[aration of the STATE and CHURCH ? Are we literally READY for it ?

    @GODSAINT ...

    And you are suggesting ?

    I would suggest that this govt.should impose higher penalties for those who are into prostitution.Makita namn nato nga bisan ang mga pulis maglisod man kung unsa ilang ipasaka nga kaso sa mga masakpan nga nagapagawas halimbawa sa mga strip show.kanang mga massage and videoke bar nga nag front ug prostitution.problem is wala ug saktong laye pa niini.After the raid the 1 day release man daun.For me there is no need to legalized prostitution but to control it at the same time.
