It's by building your character as a programmer.. I suggest you read the book, Practices of an Agile Developer by Venkat Subramaniam and Andy Hunt. Not all that knows how to solve problems, how quick they can solve a problem nor how perfect their algorithms, are already good programmer. But it takes also how you consider your teammates and other programmers/developers as well.
