it's not about preference break, it's about certain SCENARIOS we are to picture out..
if we are to draw a picture of Jesus being scourged then crucified
are we going to draw a picture of Him smiling as if He did not feel the pain?

if I were to explain, the art expresses that above all things, above all trouble of the world Christ surpasses all the trails and even death. it is just a matter of seeing it in a positive way. it is place in that event to present to us that within the church trouble, temptation and trial are still there as long as Christ is the center of everything, no one can destroy it.
