Plecs are also scavengers and not only depend on algae but kung unsa naa sa ilawn sa sapa or lake nga salin2x ila kaonon

And bai if your an aquarist gyud familiar gyud siguro ka about ecosystem and kabalo ka maka tip-off na sa balance esp another species not belonging to that certain eco-system.

Ni mention ka sa tilapia nga protective na sila but they'r no match sa plec esp with its protective outer bone or protective armor.

I was an aquarist before starting when I was just 12 and I have that common plecostumus. Also we have separate tanks for cichlids. And another tank for mostly south american fishes---discus, tetras and some catfishes i.e. (not piranhas)

So I'm not stranger to cichlids and just in case u dont know that Tilapia is not a native specie in the Phils or in southeast asia but being introduced to our rivers and streams to augment the source of fishfood and livelihood.

Better read up bro and u can't just base a fish is not harmful to the ecosystem because its not aggressive

khbw mn ko nga mkaon jd sila anang bsg mga salin2 sd dha. i've owned a common 2 plecos too for a year sd pro d pa kaayo ko swito ato kay bata pako ang ako ra ge huna2 ato is ang pagpadako ra sa koi which is owned by me and cousins ang amo lng ato nahibaw.an sa plecos is tigkaon sa lomot y world pa pro pagbalik na nko last yr lng nagbuhi ko blk into monster fishes (arowana, datnoids, bichirs, central american cichlids) with pleco adto ko nka discover ngadli ra sd lomot ilang kaonon sd.

ehehe ikaw ra mn ang ni ingon og native ang tilapia. yeap need to dig dipper pa about fishes coz i know i still have many things that i should know about fishes which is harmful or not to our ecosystem.

This is one of the photos from my new article DEFINITE GUIDE TO PIRANHAS in PFK, April and May issues - taking away all the myth and legends. I went into a drying up body of water disconnected form the main (Paraguay basin) river infested with thousands of Piranhas (4 species), eating all the remaining fishes while 500plus crocodiles are waiting around the pool for their feast to swallow at the end the fat Piranhas. I actually had to move the Piranhas aside with my knees in order to seine the pool with my helper. This scenario repeats every year ...

... this is a look into the seine after coming out of the pool, many Piranhas, Acestrhorhynchus and Hoplias species (all terrible predators), etc. At the end I had only Piranhas in the seine and the seine was in peaces, cut by the Piranhas sharp teeth ... but none did bite me or my friend.

... and this is how the same drying up pool (one can see 2 pictures below – here on my profile) looked like only a few days later: almost no more water and the last one of about 500 crocs was still looking for a fish to eat but found only mud. The hundreds of fat Piranhas had all been eaten and the crocs had left, the only thing remained in the few centremetre of hot water, were millions of baby fishes. A few days later the rain came and all yhose larvae and baby fishes had planty of food with the rising water – this is the yearly cycle in that part of the world, as long as man has not interfered ...

Tasting the Calderada (soup) made from Piranhas, the best tasting fish on the planet - for sure. Here with Pedro one of the two Indian guides I had on my second trip up the Calderón with me. This was during the first days of this December...

    Yes I know
And I know pud wala ka mubasa sa akong mga recent post nga I mentioned Tilapia is not a native sepcie sa Pinas but being introduced para madungagan ang food source from rivers.

though I may have dis-included tilapia as native sa to one of my posts mentioning affected native species, esp. tilapia
ako pasabot was I made emphasis sa Tilapia kay daghan nag rely ani as food source.

And if this gave you confusion on my views then my apologies
