what i mean is windows 7 and 8 side to side..
im still researching about that now. maybe you have ideas..
they say you can install windows 8 on a separate virtual partition. have yo tried this?
I have tried dual boot in Windows and it is possible to dual boot windows 7 and 8.
You need another partition though for your secondary OS to be installed as a dual boot.
So dapat naa ka extra free partition allocated for your Windows 8.
Imo na i modify ang boot entry sa windows 8 bro using bcdedit para i add nimo ang boot entry location sa windows 7 na imo gisapawan ug windows 8. With this way, everytime you boot up your machine, a selection menu will be displayed first prompting you which OS would you like to boot.

salamat bro. this is exactly what they are saying in some tutorials.. i might stick with virtualization (VMware server or VirtualBox) for now because the risk of errors is hihg using bcdedit. especially in the hands of a noob. hehe

some mentioned that they have booted Windows 8 thru that method BUT using a VHD (virtual hard drive) instead of the physical partition.
its mentioned here in this comment:

"If you are running an edition which has the feature of booting from vhd, you might be able to install Windows 8 directly into VHD and have a dual boot system without the need of physically divide it into several partitions.

Enable PAE/NX under System/Processor tab (u need virtualization enabled in bios for this)

Successful ang imo installation sa windows 8 consumer edition sa imo virtual box using this settings bro?
I already enabled PAE/NX and virtualization in my machine but still di mopadaun ang installation.

Default Windows 8 -Boon or Bane

Windows 8, which is now available for pre- beta version, is the newest stint Microsoft unleashed to the techno wiz. Being a computer buff myself, I just kept wondering what this hype is all about? Currently I'm using windows 7 Ultimate for home use and XP still at work, due to some network compatibility with my foreign clients' servers. It's main feature is the new Metro style interface, that is seen mostly on touchscreen, tablets etc. It represents the applications in tile based format, more like a set of building blocks placed side by side. The setback for old users of the Windows OS is the fact that the Start button in the taskbar, which is universally located on the leftmost of the taskbar below your monitor, is now gone. The Start button is now on the upper left corner of your screen. It is a whole new feature for those users who are familiar with the old windows screen interface. For those familiar with the Microsoft's smartphone, this is basically exhibiting the same user interface features. W8 still supports the x-86 architecture for the 32 bit and the x-86-64 for the 64 bit. It still requires the 1-2 GB RAM and your free space should be between 16-20 GB HDD space. The new OS is basically cool although for those users who had been accustomed to the standard windows application, this will definitely be a new ballgame. Installing the new OS is another challenge for users who have pre-installed Windows 7 OS and wants to upgrade it. While installing it will reject installation and seeks a GPT [Graphic User Interface Partition Table] which is use to replace the ancient PC BIOS or a firmware that is not available in the older firmware of conventional computers. We need to delete the old partition to give way to the new partition requested, to accept the installation of Windows 8. Anyway, this is just a pre-beta testing, we do hope that the consumer version would be indeed user friendly. After all, Windows is here to stay whether we like or not. Just assimilate and we will certainly reap the benefits of our techno conscious world. Welcome to the 22nd century Buck Rogers.

there is a distinction between "computer hardware section" and "computer software section"

this thread should be moved here: Windows Software

and also there is an existing thread already created: https://www.istorya.net/forums/window...ndows-8-a.html
