MANILA -- A bill has been filed at the Senate to create modern cyber-crime and forensic labs at the National Bureau of Investigfation (NBI).
The NBI Reorganization and Modernization bill, filed by Senator Edgardo Angara, will mandate "the acquisition of state-of-the-art intelligence equipment, making it attuned to the needs of the times."
The equipment will go into a Cyber Investigation and Assessment Center that will act as a nerve center for computer-related crime.
The bill also proposes spending on a forensics research laboratory and a National Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) Databank System.
