IF guys like tophat or RMK711 knows what the word "Justice" means, dli ni cla magpataka ug post dri ug negative comments..

to be convicted kelangan dapat "beyond reasonable doubt" and wla bisag gamay lang na errors, discrepancies sa statements and DOUBTS sa kaso.

Given na daghan evidence from defense ang gi reject and daghan inconsistencies from witnes, dapat lang na gi acquit sa Supreme court c Web.
Imagine Web's lawyer presented 97 witnesses compare to prosecutor's 7 witness with inconsistencies?

now asa ang "beyond reasonable doubt ana"?

    basaha sa lagi nnyu:

    G.R. No. 176389

I think for me Justices was basing their decisions on Evidence presented.

Question now, will they continue investigating the 20years old case and back to square one?

Haha, sorry I didn't elaborate on why I said justice in this country is a complete joke. I thought it would be self-evident to anyone who has had any experience dealing with our justice system or even just living here, how bad justice is in this country. So allow me to elaborate:

    1. Firstly, our justice system is a joke because it is not well respected in the region. It is considered among the most corrupt, inefficient and unreliable justice systems in Asia and with good reason. If you have any experience at all with the courts, particularly the Supreme Court, you would know that they frequently overturn doctrines of precedence at will, sometimes not just once but twice even three times (this is known as flip-flopping jurisprudence, something frowned upon greatly by more esteemed courts). We are, in a ranking survey of businessmen and law practitioners, among the worst justice systems in Asia, perhaps the world.

    2. Secondly, our justice system is a joke because justice takes forever. Even considering this case, it took the Supreme Court 15 years to decide on their appeal rather than give closure to both the victims and the accused at the earliest possible time. This is absolutely disgraceful by any sense of the word, and I find anyone who defends this kind of incompetence must be a retard not even worth responding to.

    3. Third, to the guy who says I think I'm smarter than the justices, I don't know that I am but I could be and for all I know even your average person in this forum could be smarter than they are. There's simply no way to tell how smart these people are as they don't administer IQ tests to justices before they are appointed to the SC. And there's that key word they were appointed not by merit but through politics. Now while I don't know their actual IQ, their recent decisions certainly give rise to doubt as to whether they are really that intelligent. Have you read their decision regarding the plagiarism case? They are either extremely stupid, or have no sense of shame. Take your pick. Because even a college freshman would be ashamed by the logic they presented in their "unintentional plagiarism" doctrine they laid down not too long ago.

    4. Lastly, our Supreme Court are onion-skinned and cannot take any constructive criticism of any kind, which is why they immediately sought to censure UP faculty for calling attention to their lack of judgment in the plagiarism case. Contrast this with the Hong Kong Supreme Court, which is so confident in their decisions and in the rightness of their ratio decidendi, they even allow foreign justices to sit as members of the Supreme Court. Remember, these are foreign judges who render judgment in cases within Hong Kong. They even had a Filipino judge one time, who was considered one of the smartest judges in the world. It is a pity that this Filipino judge worked in Hong Kong instead of being a justice here, but knowing the non-merit based nature of our bad justice system, such upstanding judges have zero chance of being appointed to the Supreme Court here.

I haven't had time to read the whole case regarding this matter, but in my free time I will because I'm pretty sure I can tear its logic apart. And to the guy who said that Hubert Webb's lawyer presented tons of witnesses compared to the prosecution, jeez this doesn't even warrant a response but I will anyway. It's not a numbers game, otherwise any defense in the country will just present as many paid witnesses as they can and they would win. That obviously is stupid. What matters more should be the reliability of the witness, for example, a good question to ask would be what would the witnesses get for lying? So what do the maids of Hubert Webb get for lying, if they really are lying? What did the security guards get for lying when they said they saw Hubert Webb that night? Logic dictates that if anything, they would have more to gain from laying for the defense, since his father is rich, as opposed to lying for the prosecution or victims since the government and victims are not rich. Anyway it all requires basic common sense, something which I think some of you are not exercising to your full capacity as thinking individuals. God help you all if you really think the Supreme Court made the right decision in this case. And please don't get offended when I mock the Supreme Court or our country's justice system, I'm just calling a spade a spade.

The SC decided the case the way it should have been decided at/by the RTC.
