i think fermi is a good architecture pero badly implemented; makita gyud nimo ang power sa chip when it comes to not only tessellation but also in parallel computing like folding@home. if nvidia can turn this rough rock into a diamond like what happened with the first G9x processors, its going to be a win but truth be told, dili jud siya practical on this current generation more so because ATI delivers roughly the same performance at a much lower power requirement and even lesser thermal footprint.

come to think of it, before the ATI's RV770, ATI was also struggling on how to respond to the G9x which held the crown for 3 years and it was only when they unveiled the 4xxx series that things were starting to come together. hopefully, nvidia can do the same. Nvidia like AMD; was caught with its pants down (conroe) because they focused on marketing (the way its meant to be renamed) and less on the engineering aspects.

GTX 480 is a new technology so it means you need a new system... sa una bitaw reklamo mo nga 500W na kinganlan sa 8 series sa nvidia pero karon nag 750W na ang most common karon... we buy video card in order to have a good performance not to have a low power consumption and low temperature.. wala ko kasabot sa mga tao ngari especially kadto mga naka 5870..... they forgot whats the purpose to have a good video card...

you don't need a new system; ang gi-lalisan diri kay almost the same ang performance (sans tesselation) pero dili parehas ang power consumption.

Indeed, people buy video card.. but reality check lang bro...not all people are RICH and GTX 480 is not that bang for the buck as of the moment (unless money is not a problem).

Based from your statement..you're saying that 5870 is not doing its purpose as a good video card?

5870 - lower temps, lower power consumption, and performance is at par with GTX 480 (bang for the buck)


I have a HD 5870 but also love GTX 480..
