About 15 months or so. Was reading docs to go when it suddenly started restarting. Think I overused it? I've been reading on my palm for about 4-6 hrs per day for the past month. The last software I installed was Skyscape 1-2 weeks before my palm went zonker. It's with Microwarehouse right now. They've hard resetted it, drained the battery and I don't know what else. Last I heard, they were going to open it up to check the battery. Really dont know what to do next...

Ohmigod, this makes me scared, i own a zire72 too, and it's about 7month-old na, i use it mostly for mp3s and movies and other multimedia purposes, i play music (via speaker) for probably an hour or two (sometimes until the battery drains out), is this oK? can my zire72 handle this kind of, shall i say, torture?

hmmm ladyblade sounds like a software thing, what else was in your palm? probably some conflict when you were reading the ebook, for 1-2 weeks it must have been the ebook/doc you were reading? rather what you have was a series of unfortunate events, like me when i played tradewinds with lightspeed on all of a sudden it would hard reset and ask me to erase all data!! taking out the battery and draining is a good idea, but i think the best is reflashing the ROM if i knew how i would gladly share it with you, btw i assume you didnt mess with the ROM..with jackflash or something of the like

to pikotski, palm isnt as reliable, but the software is tuff, 7months old is ok, if it lasts 2 years thats great! pda's wernt meant to last for long like laptops.

My old Tungsten W lasted for at least 3 years..

I guess ladyblade's case was an isolated incident, daghan man ko kaila nga zire72 owners tapos dugay na kaayo 'la sila ka encounter with that problem. Maybe naa siya's na install nga program that messed with the pda's ROM?, just my opinion. What I have observed lang sa Zire 72 sa akong friend kay dali ra jud kaayo ma drain ang battery. I dunno if this is true with the others..

yeah. dali gyud na ma drain batt sa Zire72 especially if you activate your Bluetooth and frequently use your camera.

as with any other electronic device that uses lithium ion batteries, it is suggested that you top-off charging on the unit as frequent as you can. meaning dili dapat ipa drain ang battery for it to last longer. this is a very different practice with the older nickel cadmiums where we used to fully complete the recharge/discharging cycles.

yep it's true dali ra ma drain ang batteries sa zire but i've heard pwede nimu ma replace ang battery with a nokia battery. ive read this once in mapalad.org (PALM forum), am not sure if this true. D ba naa diri sa Cebu ang support sa palm..share pud mo og sekwets oi! hehehe

I dunno kung pwede ba sa Zire but I've tried opening other Palm devices. The battery was not housed in a hard casing similar to Nokia batteries. It was kinda soft. My friend and I tried to inquire at Microwarehouse if they have an extended battery for zire but they were of no help actually.

its actually ok to run the battery as low as you need to, say 20% the thing to make it last long is not to over charge it. this is a healthy way to keep the battery going, also with cellphones, try not to leave it overnight coz cycling of power in the battery for li-ion is good for around 500
