if you're going to Malapascua you have to party at this bar/resto called Maldito. very good food for very reasonable prices (i'm from manila so i guess i can also say that it's super cheap!) - although you might want to check first because they're closed during off-peak months. There's a floating bar that you can hang out on, and then afterwards you can test your drinking prowess with fifteen-still-standing shots at the SunSplash Resort (just a stone's throw away from Cocobana). Exotic Resort also has a really nice resto where you can just sit back and relax with a cold drink (be it a strong beer or an even stronger margarita).Â* hehe

admittedly, the beach isn't that great. I've seen better in Sta Fe, Bantayan and Virgin Island (also in Bantayan) - the sand in these places were even finer that that in Bohol (Dumaluan or Alona)...I know, cuz i took samplesÂ* just in small quantities though!!! and in june til january there's so much seaweed that it's not that enjoyable to swim in the water. then again, i don't really go to beaches to stay in the water (unless it's to snorkel or dive)...i just like to get away and walk barefoot in the sand and breathe in the sea breeze and all that. but of all the places I've been to, this is where i had fun the most, even when i went there with just one friend! you can also rent habal-habals so you can go around the island (you can either drive it yourself or have someone take you) and check out the lighthouse near Pilar Pilapil's resort (you might want to check if she's there too, if you're lucky - we got to meet her and she was super niceÂ* )

always stayed at Cocobana. you can haggle with the German guy for a cheaper price. usually if there's just you or two of you, or if you're staying for more than one night, he'll give you a lower price. if i remember correctly, in January 2005 we got a beachfront hut for P500/night (we stayed 2 nights).

bottomline, if you're a diver or a nature lover, or what i just described appeals to you, then Malapascua's the place for you. if you like to spend most of your time wading in the water, then it might not be.

people either love it or hate it. there are usually no in-betweens. as for me, i've fallen head over heels with the place

    nice kaayo malapascua...i really enjoyed..

    here's an additional info..

If you want to tour the whole island, tell the banka driver if you could take you to Calanggaman Island...
I guarantee you, its simply the best there is...it will simply take your breath away.
No wonder its in the front page of a philippine travel guide...
Theres no resort there, so you could just go for a visit or simply go snorkling.
    The landing fee is Php200.00...
So if you have a two hundred pesos to spare, go to that Island...simply beautifull...
By the way, landing fee is for what you pay for the boat..so regardless of how many you people are, the landing fee is still two hundred..although it might vary on other banka's..

I've always wanted to go to Calanggaman. Seen pictures of it and it looks like paradise! How many hours by boat from Malapascua and how much?

In my opinion, i think Malapascua is overrated when people say its Boracay twenty years ago. The sand isn't as fine although admittedly it is as white. The water fronting the long stretch of beach is not that clean considering most pumpboats dock right in front making the water a bit oily at times (like Sta. Fe Resort in Bantayan). Although it is a rustic and relatively unspoiled desination. One thing i like about Malapascua though is the diving.

When we go there, we usually stay at this place called Logon Beach Resort. It not located on the main beach and you can see four of its cottages perched on cliffs on your way to the island. Very cheap accomodations and you can even bring you own food to be grilled by their cook for a minimal amount. What's nice about it is it has its own beach cove which makes it very secluded and since its the only resort there, the water is crystal clear coz there are no pumpboats.

Personally, i think Bantayan should be likened more to Bora than Malapascua---sand is not as while but it is as fine and the sand stretches out into the clear waters as far as your toes can reach. Plus the sandbars make it all the more enchanting.

    hi guys!

is there anyone out there who can give me directions how to get there? i'm planning to visit malapascua with my fiancee. i heard about the place it's rustic and not crowded and i like that. are the accommodations cheap and affordable? is there any idea how much is one room or cottage with basic amenities? or is there a place out there where we can have our thing without getting minded at? by the way we plan to spend our honeymoon in a secluded place.

    thanks.
