    Hi Ampdeck!

Choosing dog food depends upon the needs of your dog (activity level), whether they are allergic to it and if they like eating the dog food itself. You can tell if its good for them if they gain weight. Also analyze the look, size & smell of poop, and check if their skin and hair is shiny. If budget permits, I recommend using Canidae, Orijen and Royal Canine. It may be more expensive, but you're rest assured you're feeding the best food to your dog. You feed less the amount every feeding time plus your pets gets more nutrients compared to other brands that has a lot of grain fillers.

I wouldn't recommend using Pedigree, Alpo, Pet One, Sportsman choice since they have a lot of fillers and by-products. Your dogs can get nasty allergies, become lethargic & have liver problems if dili maayo ilahang food. I would recommend choosing beef over chicken, since Chicken by-product meal mas more prone to allergies ang dogs. Don't be deceived by the protein content, not all protein are being digested by dogs. Not all vitamins and minerals are absorb by our pets. The bigger & smellier the poop means dili tanan nga nutrients/ingredients na absorb so medyo daghan ug fillers ang dog food.

We feed different kinds of dog food because we have many dogs. Summer eats Royal Canine because he's skin is highly sensitive. The adult dogs eat Beef Pro Breeder's Pack. The smaller pups gets Acana, Beef Pro Lamb & rice and Eukanuba for puppy. The effect of vitality is not significantly great with me. They love beef pro better as it really tastes yummy for them i guess (results are better too). They eat beef pro with so much gusto & they gained weight and have better & longer coats now.

At Stormwind Kennel, we always make it a point to give them steamed vegetables & fruits as treats plus we give them a little yogurt / yakult once a week for the probiotics. We also mix in sawdust, broth & a little rice when we get a chance to buy it. They love salad lettuce, steamed baguio beans, peeled apples & fresh carrots (we use these when we train or play with them).

If you're going to shift dog foods, always do it gradually. Your GR is adult already right? For your future dogs, always get the top brands when your puppy is still growing so the foundation of their growth will be good.

Raphz is actually my first cousin. Do you know him? His GR (Kenshee) and one of my GR (Zoe) are not related although they are almost the same age.

    Hi Seth82,

Inbreeding is not "bad", but it is very risky. It intensifies the strong points but also the faults as well.

It's not advisable without research in the bloodlines of our dogs based on the health background/genetic issues and traits of the parents and our dog's ancestors. Merely having a PCCI paper in your hand is not enough to assess the risk. We have to study the pedigrees of both dam and sire for many generations. Those are just letters on the paper if not accessed properly.

Champions have been produced because breeders use line breeding/in breeding to bring out the favorable traits & would like to pass in to the future generation. However, these are professional breeders who thoroughly study the bloodlines of their dogs.

In our kennel, we don't do inbreeding because it's unpredictable.
You will have genetic/traits defects due to the high number of recessive genes that occur in closely related animals. Since the gene pool is too narrow, they are most likely to be both carriers for the same disease. You may produce weak puppies with shorter life span, and that can be heart breaking. There are entire litters that die because of this. They are more prone to have eye problems, hip & joint, shorter life span, heart condition, digestive problems, kidney syndromes, allergies....and the most common, Incorrect temperament for breed.

I suggest to skip the inbreeding. If you want to produce consistent litters, then just follow line breeding... Mating your dogs to their common ancestors/distant relatives. Ex. daughter to great grandfather, daughter to distant uncle.

Just remember, no matter how special your dog is to you, a puppy out of it is not guaranteed to be just like or even similar to your dog -- half its genes will be from another dog! So study the pairing well. good luck!!

For the love of dogs! yeeeha!
