It's a very good school, but if you're planning to send your children to SHS in hopes of making them fluent in Chinese, it's not happening (better get a tutor). In all my years "studying" Chinese in that school (from Nursery to HS), all I could understand are the simplest words, and a vague familiarity of Chinese characters. They are OBSESSED with Chinese writing when they should've focused on verbal usage. For the life of me, I could not speak / string together complete sentences at all, besides maybe for the simplest ones like "wo ay ni" and the like.
However, I do admire their Physics and Trigonometry training there (shout out to Reynaldo Detosil).
Be warned though, people may be afraid to admit it, but there is a bit of racism emanating from some of the students' families, esp from folks who prefer the school to be an exclusive Chinese school (eventhough it's practically a bad Chinese school). So if you are not Chinese, expect your child to have some kind of difficulty mingling with the school's Chinese population.
EDIT:
CAGIII!!!!!

Bitaw, usik kaayo spending all the years studying chinese and you end up not being able to speak it. I studied at shs-b kinder 1 to high schoool but i still do not know how to speak it. My younger brother graduated also from shs-b but he still cannot speak chinese. My son is now studying there but like myself, chinese class just turns out to be a time of eating, cheating, and talking in class. Why hasn't shs been able to realize that they are ineffective in teaching chinese?
It's now:
SACRED HEART SCHOOL - ATENEO de CEBU (SHS-AdC)
Mao na ni ang bag-ong name sa Sacred Heart School.
kuyawa nagud aning SHS
I too am a Sacred Heart School - Jesuit graduate and I say to you that your son will have all that he could need from this institution. Sacred Heart has already all the right reasons to boast it's status a great institution of learning. He will definitely stand out above the rest. I thank my parents for sending me to such a great school. Hi to all 2005 graduates here in istorya.net.
