Cebu: good to raise a family and business at the same time. You can have a badass job like one in Makati but you can still catch some good soap operas at home to watch with your family, and go to beaches and other things nature can offer and get back to your home in a day.
Got lots of construction of high rise buildings on going and im hoping that it wont result like in Ortigas or Makati where the CBD is posh yet the neighboring communities is a mess.
Do you know that our clients are complaining why the prices of real estate here in Cebu are so high? Comparable and some more expensive than Manila. (I'm working in a company that literally 'builds')

Davao: great city, safest place to walk at night and the presence of more green areas are one of the factors that got me interested with the place. Its also progressive like Cebu and it also has high rise buildings if you want those. The prices of commodities, etc are lower and there are also a lot of tourist sports to go to. (I love whitewater rafting and the eden park).

But what I I dont like about the city is its vast area, its like the whole metro cebu but just one city. Unfortunately my aunt lives in the city but it is literally an hour away from the airport (traffic aint included just pure open roads), and it cost me a lot riding a taxi.
It is safer to live, promotes a healthy lifestyle by implementing rules like no smoking in public, curfew etc., but if your used to a fast paced life and dusk till dawn partying you get pretty bored (like what I experienced-went to Tagum City to enjoy a night to dawn partying), and as a non resident in the city im not so used to having so many rules around and it makes me uncomfortable and a weird feeling that Im not really safe.

I dont think I can compare the two with pollution.. they both have trashes on the streets but proportionate to the economy of the city. Neither with the order of development because theyre both poor in city planning and chaotic roads (more impressed to tagum city and valencia-bukidnon)

^ That is because the focus of the LGU of Cebu City before was primarily for boosting Cebu's economy. Remember that the flagship project of Tomas Osmena was to develop the SRP, the CBP and AITP at the expense of the services the city could give to the residents. Cebu City Medical Center was just renovated recently during the term of Mayor Michael Rama. Rama is now focused on the Tourism potential of the City although now we are IMPROVING the services of the City.

Davao on the other hand focused on cementing it's position as the most livable city in the Philippines. The new traffic system, the emergency system, healthcare and others. They concentrated mainly on those aspects. Ever heard of an IT park in Davao? No.

Davao has the best infrastructure in the Philippines because IT NEEDS TO. Davao is a city in the middle of a HUMONGOUS island. Cebu on the other hand is a sea-locked small island in a group of islands. Cebu does not need any big time infrastructures like superhighways and extremely wide roads.

Economically speaking, Cebu City is well ahead of Davao, you'll need more than a decade to catch up to it. Economics is an important aspect of how good a City is doing. Davao is indeed number one in giving the people the right services and making the City safe. But Cebu's economy fuels the common good of the people. A lot of Cebuanos have a job and even Davaoenos come to Cebu because there are a lot of available jobs here. Cebu Per Capita income is the highest in the Philippines and do not worry, soon enough Cebu City will dislodge Davao in the most livable city category. IT CAN AND IT WILL. There not much economic activity in Davao because the market or the people who can actually spend and drive demand is small. Cebu's robust growth is driven by strong demand because of the BPO and other job generating sectors that boost the income of the Cebuanos making them more capable of spending money on sorts of stuff.

Davao and Cebu are two different cases. IT IS USELESS TO HAVE A HIGHLY EDUCATED WORKFORCE IF THE JOBS AVAILABLE ARE NOT ENOUGH TO SERVE them, they will JUST END UP MIGRATING TO CEBU OR MANILA because the jobs opportunities there are high. Literacy is indeed high but that doesn't mean davao's educated people are any higher than Cebu's. We could have a high literacy rate but that only measures the PEOPLE WHO CAN SIMPLY READ AND WRITE. People will still look for income and since Davao lacks the economic strength to serve it then these people will just go and live in Cebu instead because the jobs here are oozing.

Davao is clean, I've seen it. Cebu is also clean although not the same as Davao. Cebu is a bustling trade center and that is it's strength. Karon raman gani na siguro naglambo ang economy sa Davao. Cebu's economy will continue to rise in leaps and together with it is the great rise in the QUALITY OF LIVING IN THE CITY, THE SERVICES OF THE GOVERNMENT, THE COST OF LIVING IN THE CITY and the LIVABILITY of THE CITY. I believe in Cebu's potential and it is great.

We cannot also deny the fact that a lot of people from Davao are employed in Cebu. That is because Cebu has the economy to support them. Again, cleanliness and peace is not a determining factor in the City's progress, we need an robust economy to support it. Davao is just like the cities of COMMUNIST countries, clean looking and peaceful but the economy is lagging.

no matter what you say, I will still chose davao for many reason.. dili na kinahanglan ng mga building na ginapanghambog nimo i have everything i need here.. eh ikaw, cge kag panghambog anang imong CEBU n paskang hugawa sa lugar baho pagyud.. daghan ug kawatan ug mga kriminal. maski naa pa CEBU ang pinaka taas n building sa tibook kalibutan.. dili lang gyapon na maimo.. kay ikaw igo ra ka sa panghambog sa mga property na maski isa wala kay imo.. in other words gahila hilas lang ka.. actually i dont care kung kinsa labaw manila cebu or davao.. kay ako naa koy properties on all those cities.. but chose to live here in davao, for an obvious reason.. one thing is for sure davao is the best place to live on... CEBU hugaw ug baho.. hasta sad ka.. hilas lay gadaghan nimo.. kutob ra ka sa comment.

@bradsaunders22, maypaka kay maka suroy sa Citta Di Mare pero ang imong mga kaliwat intawn nga nawad an og panimalay kay gi demolish sa Mahiga creek ilang mga balay. Gi interview man gyud to sila, taga Davao daw gyud ang uban nila pero bisag wana silay balay kay gi demolish, di daw gihapon sila mo uli sa Davo. I wonder why?

The bottom line is, mapa Cebu og mapa Davao daghag pobre. And those tall buildings are just testament nga even Filipinos as far as Davao area nahatagan og panginabuhi para maka suroy sa Citta di Mare. Hindi yan pinilit (kung sa tagalog pa) na ganyan ang itsura ng Cebu now coz it's a fact. Kung naay problema ang Cebu sa kahugaw, di sad nimo ika limod nga dako sad ang problema sa Davao interms sa pag hatag og panginabuhi sa iyang kaugalingon nga mga anak resulting nga mo migrate nalang diri sa Cebu og mo squat. So ang problem sa Cebu, hinungdan sad ni sa problema sa Davao or other provinces. Ang Cebu mo'y nag pas an. Ang taw dili civilized kung dili mag hugaw hugaw sa Davao pero ig ari sa Cebu kay mag hugaw hugaw. Ang civilized are those people nga mapa davo or Cebu man, limpyado gyud...
