This Praying Mantis was kind enough to keep me occupied last November 1... taken at around 8PM.
beor- same kleenex technique?...
Minuano27, not anymore... in the absence of a "Sto-fen", I made myself a diffuser out of a Johnson's liquid soap container which I call a "Sto-FID"... Sto-FlashInstantDiffuser ... hmmm Sugbuanong Tinapulan ug Original-Flash Instant Diffuser also sounds nice ... it was a crazy idea but it works

you might notice that the pics taken with the diffuser are a bit yellow... that is the because of the candles near the flowers...
my comment for the middle photograph with diffuser:
the color of the diffuser affected the color of the light from your flash unless you're on slow shutter which gather more ambient (yellowish) light.
I've been making diffusers and small softboxes before, it is important to consider the material used to diffused the light. The diffuser should not alter the light color or temperature, it should only soften or diffuse the light to to avoid harse effect on the subject. Another noticeable effect of using diffuser is soften shadows.
