I could say the same about you. I was facepalming so hard when Pnoy parroted that "separation of church and state" line -- he apparently has no idea what the Constitution means, either. Here's exactly what it says:



That's it. The government should not interfere with religous rights, and religions should not interfere with civil and political rights. And that's all. There's absolutely nothing there about rebuilding old churches.

Sorry. Was that too harsh? Anyways, some laws are open to interpretation. That's why people let the court decide most times. Regarding the separation of church and state, I agree; it simply means that the church should not interfere in the affairs of the state, and vice versa. Rebuilding damaged Catholic churches is an affair of the church, not the state. It is NOT the responsibility of the state to repair. Using the "historical site" argument, for me, is only one way of going around the law. How shameful. Does this mean that the Catholic church does not have money? If I'm not mistaken, the biggest, most powerful church in the world, right? They can't afford to build their own church? Or gusto lang gyud sila magpa-libre. Wa man gani mangayo ang ubang simbahan. Isa pa, those churches were centuries old. Meaning, for hundreds of years, wala sila nakagasto ug patukod ug simbahan while other churches mga bag-o lang; nakaya man gani nila ug gasto nga sila-sila lang
