Mao siguro text votes na lang ila basehan ron coz Globe baya ang isa sa mga sponsors nila. so in a way, makatabang ang academy na makakwarta ang Globe. hehehehe...

plus, they need to know kung kinsa jud ang gusto sa mga tawo. kay meaning, more mass support for a certain talent, more money for ABS.

^i understand your point. i guess abs-cbn approaches the contest differently. hay, abs-cbn pa nga market-oriented kaayu ni sila. traditional singing contests proclaim one grand winner with the help of a few judges. now their choice might not be the people's choice, so what does this mean? dili marketable. whereas if they let the people decide, they are guaranteed of a hit (translation: record hits, jobs for the people working for this star...money...moolah)

on another note, i do think that the scholars are winners in their own right. i'm sure about this: most of them are not really after the grand champion title, but the opportunities that await them outside. the latter is for the long haul and if they're in this contest for a CAREER, they'd think that way.

Kailangan niya ang tulong ngayon because he's up against the globals. Pwedeng ma-overcome yan sa paramihan ng mga boboto instead na sa palakihan ng perang gagastusin which the globals are capable of. Even just a few votes can make a difference.

About sa voting, I don't think they can manipulate it directly like say ibahin ang actual results ng statistics. Hindi basta-bastang machachange ang results without getting themselves into trouble. There's only a small window of opportunity to do so.

However, I do believe they can manipulate the sympathies of the viewers through the scholar's editing sa primetime. Either give them a good edit, a bad edit, overexpose them or have them barely seen on TV.

^and speaking of editing or exposure, ganina gipakita tong conflict nila panky and gege. to be honest, i think gege is maldita ra as a teacher. not my kind of teacher. hmmm di ko siya feel.
