Yes I received a MBA University of Houston 1980 but jobs were scarce and I joined the Marines 1981, could have been an Officer but chose to be Enlisted because I would hate being saluted. After I was discharged from the Marine Corps MOS 8541/2822 I was offered reeducation (GI bill), I attended Texas A&M Biology program received Biology M,S. 1989, Started working for NASA Summer school Workers program 1988, was employed full time 1989.
While working at NASA completed my Botany M.S. Texas A&M (satellite school program) 1994 While still employed at NASA, they have an excellent continuing education program which allow workers to regularly attend college courses.
I started a horticultural business, my wife operated it for 3 years and I devoted all my free time to the business. I stayed employed at NASA, we had a new baby and a house mortgage, needed the insurance and income security. Then I left NASA in fall of 1999. I remember because NASA was scrambling over that Y2K thing, because they have a lot of computers. I applied my MBA and Botany training into a very profitable business and decided to retire on my 50th birthday. My family and I moved to Surigao City in October of last year. We run a 6-1/2 hector farm and several other small businesses and even have a small food carryout stand. Best food in the city and priced low enough that the locals can afford to eat there. We want get rich, but we help a lot of people. That is rewarding enough for me.
Here is a secret about how to have a happy life:
It is not important having everything you want, rather it is wanting what you have.
I love it here, and know that this is were I will spend the rest of my life, if my wife does not kill me first...
