George and Cecil

ABS-CBN’s new comedy show George and Cecil, topbills engaged couple Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo. The new show will be aired Sunday nights, and is directed by Joey Reyes who also directed Judy Ann and Ryan’s hit movies, Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo and Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo. George and Cecil will employ the same production staff of the two movies. “Komportable na kami sa isa’t isa. We are working with the same group of people,” explains Juday.
In the new comedy series, Juday plays George while Ryan is Cecil. “George is Georgina. She is a toughie. Her work is to create trouble. I play Cecil who cooks when he’s angry. I sound effeminate here and I have traits associated with women,” explains Ryan.
Judy Ann is also flattered to be part of Yes Magazine’s 50 most powerful people of showbiz. “I am both happy and inspired. I just do my work. I love what I do and this is the only thing I know how to do. I am inspired to do the best that I can. I also wish to inspire young people who would want to enter the movie industry,” says Juday.
Now that’s real power!

Kris Aquino: From Kapamilya Deal Or No Deal to Pinoy Bingo Night

After a few years of, well, “wheeling and dealing,” the ABS-CBN game show Kapamilya Deal Or No Deal (KDOND), hosted by Kris Aquino, is calling it a day with tonight’s edition with Cesar Montano and Edu Manzano (who took over from Kris as host of Pilipinas, Game Ka Na Ba?, the other ABS-CBN game show) as guest contestants.
Goodbye, Kris! It’s “no deal” from hereon.
But Kris will resurface on Monday, March 30, as host of the new ABS-CBN daily (Monday thru Friday) game show Pinoy Bingo Night which will air after Hot Shot (5:15 p.m.)and before TV Patrol World, right smack into the GMA top-rating game show Family Feud, hosted by Richard Gomez (whom I nominate here and now as the country’s Best Game Show Host, unchallenged), which is also fading out soon to be replaced by a show which might have Michael V. as host.
Hello, Kris! It’s “a deal.”
Joining Kris are Brod Pete as the “bingo caller” and Mel Feliciano as the “commissioner.” Mel was the former choreographer of the ’90s dance group Solid Gold Dancers and now the floor manager for DOND and The Singing Bee (another ABS-CBN game show hosted by Cesar Montano).
Pinoy Bingo Night is the Philippine version of America’s National Bingo Night. Some 402 studio players vie for over P2-M every night while home viewers also get a chance to win. A lucky televiewer will win an instant prize daily.
