In this question I am referring to personality and character rather than physical appearance.

I know that probably in most cases people are attracted to those who are similar enough to themselves to make communication and mutual understanding possible, but different enough to make the relationship interesting.

In some cases opposites attract. But I wonder how often that really occurs, and whether it really works out when it does occur.

And then there are cases in which a person becomes attracted to someone who is very similar to him/herself. Most people would probably say that this will become boring and stifling because it would be like being in a relationship with yourself. But on the other hand, two people who are on a very similar wavelength could result in a deeper connection.

So which is the case for you? Do you tend to be more attracted to someone very similar to yourself, very different, or somewhere in between? What has been the case in your past/present relationships?

I'm also wondering what people think of the concept of soulmates. Putting aside the issue of whether or not you think such a thing exists in reality -- what, to you, constitutes "soulmate"? Im more attracted to people similar to my character. Thats why I went gaga to this certain guy whos personality is very similar to mines.

Personally, I feel at ease when i meet someone whom i share a commonground with in terms of interests and facets of our lives but i also can't help be enamored with someone who is totally the opposite of what i am and how i am as a person. this would strike my interest on the person coz knowing him would be like unraveling something nice and beautiful...
