kung regulation man ang gusto ninyo unta sulit pud ang regulation.. just like gud na if ever mupalit kag firecrackers naa pud murag insurance sa tag-iya ba na kung ma-aksidente ka tungod kay naay depekto ila produkto willing sila na mugasto o mutabang man lang sa mga hospital expenses.. In that way basin ma enganyo pa ang mga consumers na mupalit sa ila produkto kay naa man sense of responsibility ang tag-iya.
Time to increase penalties for firecracker ban violators to no less than P500,000.
I agree on total ban on fireworks for individual, to make celebration more colorful, might as will as the government will sponsor some fireworks display for everybody to look on.
Instead of listening to PyroWorks or Dragon Firework or that firecracker association, we should listen to the DOH.
DOH organizing firecracker summit
The Department of Health (DOH) is organizing a summit next month among stakeholders on the use of firecrackers during New Year’s Eve to make sure that measures are in place to minimize injuries in next year’s revelry.
Health Secretary Enrique Ona said the proliferation of powerful firecrackers over the past five years is very alarming because they could cause not only severe injury but also death.
“In the past, firecrackers were small. But now we can see big firecrackers with firepower as strong as a bomb,” he said.
In the 2009 New Year revelry, DOH records showed that firecracker explosions killed two people, the first ever since the department started the registry of firecracker-related injuries during the New Year celebration.
For the 2012 New Year celebration, the agency registered three deaths, including a 10-year-old boy from Cabanatuan City who died of massive injuries and broken bones after the gunpowder that he had collected and thrown into flames exploded.
Ona said the DOH would invite all government agencies, concerned private organizations and firecracker manufacturers to the summit to make sure that all aspects are taken up.
Asked about arguments that the firecracker business is a big industry that provides livelihood to many people, Ona said such concerns would be weighed against the victims who suffered from firecrackers injuries.
He said the DOH would propose a total ban on individual or household use of firecrackers in welcoming the New Year.
