Default Work smart so you don't have to work hard

Working smart is often not easy from the start, especially when you are new and "many things" to learn, however, once you get to practice it, you will know that what you learned will be worth all the time, money and effort you put it. Efficiency and Productivity with Technology.

Aquaponics is like the word-processor of the PC, while traditional fishing-aquaculture-agriculture is the typewriter. Today, anyone given the typewriter for free will not even accept it, knowing what it can do. This is like the "slide-rule"(during my time) and the "calculator".

From the PC, the value, efficiency and quality of what your produce is far superior than the typewriter. What more if you are able to manipulate the variables/parameters of Aquaponics. Being able to produce your own healthy, organic, nutritious, clean, green fresh quality fish and vegetables-plants-herbs is far superior that what you can purchase(typewriter).

Only your imagination is the limit and the results are exciting- also be frustrating(as you move up the learning curve).

Default Education is priceless - what about our poor-fisher-folks-farmers

World Bank: Poor education holds back Philippines - Yahoo!

This article above presents poor education as the major drawback of the Philippines– one thing that is not mentioned here are the “poor-farmers-fisher folks” that are suppose to provide food for our people in the Philippines. If our poor-farmers-fisher folks keep on using the same process and procedures they will keep on getting the same results. The vicious cycle just repeats itself - compounding our poverty situation. There has to be a better way, there has to be a shift in mindset and direction. I hope someone out there can tell the President of the Philippines - to support our Philippine Aquaponics. 4.5 million involuntarily hungry Filipino voices seem to be unheared..

We have to help educate our poor farmers-fisher folks regarding "integrated-farming"

Most of those who attend are not coming from agriculture or agriculture background, most are engineers(who have a love of nature or desire for healthy food) - However, your being an engineer(like myself) put you in a very advantageous position. You may not realize that for now. In fact, your background will expedite your learning curve. Just like setting up an electronic circuit board, first your goal, then you have to understand the functions of the components, basics - such as resistors, transistors, diodes, capacitors, and how each component operate. You know what you want to achieve and you are going to assemble it together. In this case, it is a lot easier(but also has it's frustrations and trials)

The thing is unlike hi-tech, the technology here is low-tech and and can be acheived using "backyard components". I shied away from hi-tech because of the fast pace development many of which you cannot control. Everytime Microsoft, Apple etc., changes, you have to change, they dictate the direction. In this case, no one dictates except you once you have the building blocks. You are in control of the environment and what you want to achieve. You know what the parameters you want to control and how you want it. You can innovate. You "ENGINEER" your "PROCESS and SYSTEMS" and work with mother nature and father time.

For programmers/IT - you are able to develop your own language and program it to function that way you desire because there is so much to explore and discover and only your imagination is the limit. You are not dependent on the programs made by others and keep on updating yourself of the changes they have made. You program your life and not others to dictate what is good and not good for your system. You are empowered and in control of your processes. You can develop your own IP(intellectual property)

Default Re: Health begins with the food we eat

Health goes on with the food we we eat, how and when we eat. Here are seven tips on how to treat heartburn with natural and safe cures:

    1. Choose your foods carefully: The wrong foods at the wrong time can trigger your attacks. Some of the common triggers are spicy foods, tomatoes and tomatoes sauce, chocolates, garlic, caffeinated beverages, and alcohol, especially when eaten close to bedtime or before lying down for a nap.

    2. Eat smaller meals: Instead of 3 large meals, start eating 4-6 smaller meals. This will give your system enough time to digest the food and to avoid overfilling your stomach. Too much food can force stomach acid up the wrong way especially when you bend down.

    3. Sleep: A good night's sleep is actually a cure to heartburn among other health complaints. Make sure you sleep on your right side in order to discourage stomach acids from flowing up into the esophagus.

    4. Drink plenty of water: The fastest way to get rid of heartburn is to drink a glass of cold water slowly as soon as you start feeling pain. This will wash down the acidic reflux from the esophagus lining back into the stomach and will dilute the acid and its ability to cause heartburn.

    5. Apple Cider Vinegar: Add two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to a glass of warm water and sip it gradually. You can sweeten this with a spoon of honey. It is a good idea to drink a glass of this with each meal.

    6. Apples and Carrots: A red apple is a very effective natural cure of heartburn that is available right in your home. Also raw peeled carrot can be equally effective. Both of these kitchen staples have worked very well for me and thousands of others.

    7. Almonds – Not roasted or salted: This is another well proven remedy which is a proof of how to cure a heartburn using a natural remedy. The original recommendation is to chew a dozen almonds after steeping them in water overnight. The wet almonds should be peeled and then thoroughly chewed before swallowing. The almond ‘milk’ acts as a lining to protect the irritated stomach wall thus avoiding the painful effect of acid reflux.
You now have enough information to start changing your lifestyle and save yourself the discomfort and pain of recurring acid reflux and cure yourself gradually and safely as you go as you would have found your cure to heartburn.
