exactly but if we dwell on each and everyone's mistakes, we will never learn to love even the most unloving and care for even the most uncaring. That would be a great tragedy and against the teaching of Jesus's love of neighbor as thyself and love for our enemies.

In my own humble opinion, praying to the saints is like this:

I've always wanted to become a good swimmer so I searched for one that's had both experience and talent and most of all has had a good reputation in the field. When I finished this quest, we spent a lot of time and practice on the said skill. That particular instructor helped me a lot and I eventually learned how to swim and even mastered it!

The one above is just an example of how my own prayers to them would work. I learn by their example. Everytime I pray, I reflect on how they lived their lives and fought their battles. And what better way to achieve holiness than to ask for the intercession of those who won it!
God knows I need all the help I can get.

no....it's a matter of perspective and simply ain't just dwelling at it
remembering those mistakes as a lesson learned is getting something good out from a bad experience or event
A mistake that is forgotten and totally buried will remain totally as it is...a mistake, and it's even more likely to happen again.
Whereas a mistake that has been acknowledged, looked upon and learned from to prevent from happening, or being committed at, again...well become a lesson

Then why dont you ask God directly? he is a very much talented source than all the instructors out there. And besides, you still haven't know if that Instructor you go to already won the race.

I guess this is a matter of belief. Let me put it this way.
I pray to God first and He receives the highest form of prayer. It's called praise or worship and the one for the saints is called veneration. Veneration is not on the same level as the one I owe to God but it is simply an act of honoring those who led an exemplary Christian life. There is that distinction.

I agree as long as the mistake of one won't be treated as the mistake of all. Somehow I get the slightest hint of your hatred towards religion as a whole or in particular. I'm not sure though.
Sometimes it's sad bec. a lot of people leave the church 'coz they only see the bad and don't get the meaning out of it at all. I mean take a look at the greatest evil in history, the death of Christ on the Cross! And what tremendous good it brought to the world! Truly amazing.....

you meant our world now is getting better and better?
esp here in the Philippines proudly heralded by the majority of Filipinos as Asia's cradle of christianity?
Oh so meaning we the Philippines is very much faring well in terms of economy---livability and less crime, more better compared to most of our Asian counterparts or the world? Then I guess its safe for me to say "ka bugo sab atong mga nang-abroad..mga OFWs, and mga immigrants"? And that also there are more foreign & migrant workers coming or choosing to stay in the Philippines than Filipinos going out of the country?

Well..I dunno about it or maybe its just me has yet to see good or this process of getting better as a nation

My only sole question is...of all the islands and archipelago here in Southeast Asia...why does Magellan have to ran smack into our shores?
