@hayden: mao sad nay nabasahan nako bro.. pero naa say uban nga mu ingon nga not that slow man jud daw.. dili lang jud sya ideal for sports or sa mga pinaspasay. pero those reviews were made by people nga naka suway sa lens.. to test is to believe pa.. hehe..
Tamron already has USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) to is 70-300mm F4-5.6 Di VC USD lens. Hopefully, mabutang ni nila sa new generation 70-200 F2.8 lens. kanus-a pa kaha ni mahitabo para matiguman pud
USD is similar daw to USM/HSM/SWM. so, hopefully, this would give it faster focus na.
Tamron develops SP 70-300mm F4-5.6 Di VC USD lens: Digital Photography Review
actually van, reviews are always very meticulous on things since they assume that viewers/readers are very sensitive.
ive tried my cheap tamron and sigma lenses on rapid moments and they coped up with. yes, some nikkor swm lenses have faster focusing capability & some advantages but the basic low cost versions from sigma and tamron can suffice. anyway, i believe i have shared to you a basic way in focusing method. its all about mastering the weakness of your equipment, pushing its limits, unless if you have the money, you can always buy the better one. pero sa akong experience, dili ingon ana nga hinay ang focusing nga somewhat gi "superlative" sa mga reviews and user comments. basta ayaw kahingawa about sigmas or tamrons, daghan na naggamit mga experts ani nila and i believe they are satisfied with the performances.

@dice
dpreview.com, actually daghan ug sites ako lang gi-google ang lens, ang summary on all reviews are similar so mao nay ako na come-up nga conclusion.
@sly
ang ako mindset is if ang 55-200 vr can produce similar image sa 70-200 @5.6f above then why would I spend the extra money for a 2.8f glass where in fact it's already known that 2.8f on 3rd party lenses are soft wide-open.
Yes reviews can be meticulous at times it's all about getting your facts straight. The main reason why I walk away from this lens (tamron) is because ako purpose gamitan ani is purely sports photography ug wedding, kani nga mga environment nag-require ug spot on focusing ky dili na mabalik ang moment which would translate to potential loss of clients/money etc.
But if ang imo purpose ani nga lens ky pang-shooting lang without any pressure of output if you screw up, then mao nani ang part where you chew it up and say, "ok kaayo ni nga lens bai"
Ingon sila sigma produces superb focusing comparable to the canons/nikons but gi-sacrifice pod gamay ang IQ, so if mag-3rd party ka you have to choose, focusing vs IQ?
hehe base sad akong na bsa mas pas2 daw og focus ang sigma compare to tamron.. thats why daghn mo sulti na if for portrait tamron daw.. . nindot.. sigma kay ambot pero.. dpende ra dyud na sa preference. hehe.. i think both brands are good, depnde ra dyud na sa prefernce. hehe
