Deceiving kaayo to nga episode that you went through because your dog was still active and was also eating and drinking. Na kumpleto to ang 5-in-1 shots ni Lemon?
I too went to a bad episode of Parvo when it attacked 5 of my golden pups 4 years ago. Only 1 survived. That batch was sickly and I did not sell any of the surviving pups. Gipanghatag ra nako sa relatives. Grabe kaayo to ka learning curve for me. That time, I just discovered that the mother golden had sour milk-- so the pups were not getting the much needed immune system. Gamay pa sila ato and only had 2 shots pa. Suddenly nagka Parvo! Very expensive treatment for 5 pups all at the same time.
What's your theory as to where Lemon got the disease?
In my case, we used to live in a crowded village in Lahug. As much as I tried to protect my dogs, lisud kaayo with the environment around me. I was in so much anguish because my dogs were sickly there. One of my cocker pups (1 month old) had ehrlichia too, but she survived and is very healthy now. I gave that pup to my cousin.
Inside our house, its very clean and sanitated. Outside our gate, didto na grabe ka dirty. When it floods, it floods hard! Garbage, stray dogs that were sickly, gikagid etc. So many of my puppies died! That drove us to move out of that place-- thus now, we are living in the mountains of Busay na... where the air is clean and my dogs can roam free with less worry. 2 years na ko wala nag breed ug pups because na trauma pa ko ato of losing so many beautiful babies.
A few things I learned:
- Parvo is transmitted thru the fecal waste of infected dogs. Even us humans, can transmit it to our pets. How? If we come in contact with a parvo-infected dog, or if we step on their poop accidentally, and then bring it inside the house. Nipilit na ang virus sa atua-- and then we pass in on to our own dogs.
- Parvo is transmitted thru hair or feet of infected dogs, and also by contaminated objects such as cages or shoes. Clean poop right away and then if you walk your dogs, keep them away from coming close to the feces of the dogs in your neighborhood.
- If you have other dogs at home, isolate them and then regularly disinfect their area, beddings plus their food & water bowls.
