@petey: not really weird if you think about it. they are using a very high resolution sensor for photography (designed for single frame capture that max out at 4.5fps) and adapt it for HD video 24fps capture. thats 5 times more frames.
but let me clear, this is only my speculation on why nikon has a 5min limit in the spirit of discussion...
it could also be that the processor isnt fast enough and di siya ka apas sa buffer niya mao na gi limit nila to 5min.

Might be also a factor of how fast the buffer can save the data to a slow SD card pud... ma hurot

BTW, regarding D90 video if you think that then they should announce it as beta release...
the fact that the 5D II got it right in their video capability is a whole other story...beta pud diay ni sa 5D mkII?
