i'm currently studying in shs-j and i'm having a hard time in 4th year...
if you really want to study in shs-j, your child needs to have an intense motivation to pass.

Default Sacred Heart is the best - a parent's feedback

I had a child who graduated from Sacred Heart in the recent years, and I would highly recommend sacred heart of all the high schools in Cebu.

    Why?
    1. The standard and quality of instruction is very high. Their tests are even comparable to college.
    2. It has the best facilities of all the high schools in Cebu today.
    3. It has a big and conducive campus environment
    4. The teachers are professional and proud of their professionalism.
    5. The elementary students have regular tests (every week) and seatwork and the parents sign each test result in logbook style of report.
    6. The incidence of bullying, fags, etc are definitely lesser than the other schools.
    7. Strict and systematic disciplinary measures
    8. Canteen is clean and food is relatively healthy (no soda allowed)
    9. the student field trips are well organized.
    10. It has a very active PTA
    11. When parents want to meet the teachers, they have to set up an appointment with the Principals' office (a professional and systematic method)
    12. Parents are encouraged to meet the teachers regarding the students grades etc.
    13. The quality of graduates are relatively high, and can pass the Ateneo and UP entrance with ease.
    14. Donations are NOT compulsory. I even returned a raffle ticket with no single sold ticket.
    15. Winner of big sports events in Cebu
    16. Winner of academic contests in Cebu
    17. Overall it is the next thing to a perfect high school and grade school in Cebu

    Now,

as you read Botiawkoy's post below pls note:
    1. He is not the average student. He is the failing student
    2. He offered a bribe to teachers.
    3. The teachers accepted the donation bec, anyway, they are helping him pass.
    4. If the teachers did not accept his bribe, then he would have been kicked out.
    5. Do not use his experience to generalize the school, after all he himself is a deviant, below the norm.
    6. If you dont want to be like him who bribes, and if your child is average, then you will not have his issues with the school.

Again, Sacred heart is NOT perfect, I have a few things that I dont like there but these are minor concerns compared with the overall benefits of going to Sacred Heart.

By the way, I am not an alumn of SHS, but my child is.

But it has the best to offer among all the schools in Cebu right now..

Grade school years - Not much corruption here. Most educators are dedicated in their jobs.

High school years - from 1st year to 4th year my dad would give donations to teachers who requested such in exchange for passing grades. Since my conduct was beyond the norm, the school wanted me expelled. But for some 'good' reasons, they gave me another chance when my father donated items to SJ priests. At one point, our Filipino teacher asked for a truck load of cement to finish her house in Liloan. LOL We gave in her request as I wanted to pass.

    After mucho years -

The same old faces with High school educators welcoming me and my kids - like vampires with leeches lips in a sheeps clothing. I have yet to find out what donation we can give considering we are better off now than we did. Life continues to haunt me. I hope my kids will not suffer/ encounter the same fate as my dad and I did.

    O/T: Toughies and FAGs-

During our time, there are 3 types of students. The toughies, Nerds and the FAG's. Back then there are more toughies than FAGs. Nerds are normal people who don't act their age and who lacks motivation to be wild. ( younger years = wildest years ) I remember our group harassing FAG's to act normal.(like nerds)

Now, FAG's roam our new campus with a quota to recruit more. FAG's now outnumber toughies and Nerds.
As one student said:'When you drop a coin, kick it out till you reach Talamban. Else, you get screwed.'

What has happened to our Glory days? Being an Eagle. I guess, the eagle learned to follow its educators and became courrupt too - in a system that molded us for 12 years.

And some eagles became doves. ahahay!
