ang mabasul jud ana ang governo..ang governo pangawat ra jud ang giatiman..
whahahahhahaha
if we can speak english well, we can communicate well with foreigners
these foreigners can be our potential clients of our businesses ha ha!
It is not about the language but the political will of our leaders.
I've personally received accounts from "friends" who "assisted" politicians get elected in the provinces, for an easy buck. One of them was a truck driver. They loaded sacks upon sacks of rice to their trucks, went from town to town, with armed goons standing at the back of the truck, yelling and telling people to vote for so and so "Because he's giving you rice--you OWE him your vote!" and from time to time, while saying this, would nonchalantly rub the pistol's grip on his waist.
And you still think this country's people actually freely elect those who are in power? *shakes head* Most of you grew up in the city--maybe you "feel" as if when elections happen, that your vote really counts--you should go into the provinces at the height of an election to see the real story behind our "democracy" *shakes head*
And to get back on topic, I think whoever started this thread simply got frustrated with the fact that he/she doesn't have a fair grasp of the language, and was denied a certain opportunity for financial gain, because of the inadequacy of his/her English skills. I think anyone in his/her position would naturally start to think this way.

yes i heard stories about those incidents in some places in mindanao. its quite hopeless but it aint really that big if you compare the number of voters in the major cities, its very small. the progress of the country depends mostly in those big cities and provinces and vote buying is still ramphant. when crooked officials are elected, the ones to be blamed are the majority
First we need to ascertain voting age:
15-64 years: 61.3% (male 27,849,584; female 28,008,293)
Although you can't vote til you're 18, let's assume this rough figure of about 50 million qualified voters.
So now there are nearly 50 million qualified voters in the entire Philippines. Metro Manila's population is close to 11 million. Take 60% of that you get = 6.6 million voters. Metro Cebu's is 2.3 million. Take 60% of that you get = 1.3 million. Now, let's take 10 Philippine cities with each having a rough estimate of 1 million qualified voters, that's 10 million. Now let's do a grand city roundup:
6.6 million + 1.3 million + 10 million = 23 million voters in cities.
Now let's subtract this with the total estimated voting population of 50 million...
50 million - 23 million = 27 million. So where are the 27 million voters then?
27 million voters In the provinces. Where all that I-gave-you-rice-so-vote-for-me is going on.
27 million is greater than 23 million. And I'm not even talking about the mobilization of "youth squads" nga pabor sa usa ka candidate--blind youth being used, in city elections. And then truckloads of flying voters...shakes head.
And again, you people call this a democracy. Wow.
And "hopeless"? See? This is exactly what those politicians in the provinces want to hear from you, so that they can stay in power and preserve status quo.
Frankly, this country is a vehicle with a busted engine. And it's plain to see that nobody wants to fix it, let alone pop the hood. They're too "comfy" doing whatever they're doing.
