    IMO..OPEC is a cartel, the middlemen dictates the price of oil thru speculation but i guess it still boils down to their GREED

    @DeathFox: that's unreasonable.

    @cardo: some are saying that people in position are unreasonably speculating on oil prices and keeping oil from the market to inflate prices even higher. i read somewhere that, in the US, tankers full of oil are just sitting at the docks, waiting for the time when oil prices hit an all time high before they distribute the oil.

    @kenites: totally agree. its exciting to see the innovations in electric vehicles. however, the fact remains that these vehicles still get their power from the main electric grid which gets power from fossil fuel based energy plants (for the most part). also, the problem with electric vehicles is still energy storage limitations - the batteries limit their range

    regarding this issue, i'd like to vote with my wallet and keep away from oil - such as by switching to an alternative mode of transportation like a bike. however, its not very practical at the moment.

    still, given enough pressure, i'd probably go ahead and do it.

    ummm... no.
    as i recall, GMA was able to curb the rising prices. in Abnoy's case however, Malacañang stated in apress conference that they will not intervene coz "bababa ang coleksyon nila sa buwis"

    according to multiple sources online, it seems that the high cost of fuel may not only be caused by supply and demand but also by speculation.
    One of the reason is Emission Reduction. Kung baratohon ang oil ug dili e regulate dili mo reduce ang atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations.

    here:

    1. What Is Emissions Reduction? What Is Emissions Reduction?

    2. What’s the Right Target - 350 or 450 ppm? What
