^ Those aspects are considerable. The Philippines just boomed, "RECENTLY". Our growth was sluggish in the 70's up to the 90's as compared to the booming economies of the rest of the ASEAN countries. It's understandable why we don't have yet a very competitive infrastructure since we are 3 decades behind from them but at least for now we are seeing projects and we know that in the long run, the PHL will catch up with them. We are already improving our competitiveness in terms of infrastructure through the PPP's of the current administration.

Human resources - as I said, we already have a very large and a very competitive labor force. Our edge is the fact that it is in this country you'll have "lower-cost equals a much higher quality of work". Who would hesitate hiring Filipinos then?

Our government had been and will be always business friendly, Aquino's push for a higher GDP growth in his term is already a bold indication of his government's commitment to the long term development of the Philippines. Though I won't suggest these at all times. Because, as a government, their concern is always the welfare of the people they serve and sometimes too much business bias can undermine the living standards of the citizens so they always have to keep a balance.

Philippines will always have a higher tier level of Agents compared to India.

Sad to say, that is not what is happening. Tell that to the unemployed/ new grads/ underemployed. check out our unemployment figures.

That is not because of their hesitation to hire. Every educated Filipino is worth some money. It's just that the actual number of workers outnumber "THE JOBS THAT ARE AVAILABLE" that is why our unemployment is high. Dili mana tungod kay dili sila mu-hire, kulang lang jud ta ug mga investors aron makatrabaho tanan. And that's the reason why we have to push our niche more. So that more and more investors will have interest in PHL and place their money here and give us the jobs we deserve.

This industry have given them the means to help their families survive. And up until now, BPO has been our biggest employer.

Maayo gani kay daghan ni siya og trabaho nahatag sa mga tao. IMO lang.
and that is why one indian said: "only a filipino would think of making a career out of a call center."

Wise ang mga indians ron. They have woken up from the ruse that the west has been exploiting them. Gusto napud ko kita magpabrayt ani and "demand for better wages" and not "demand for call centers".

In fact, if they want mass hirings I have some ideas of my own about a potential BPO that is not call center related.

Ang sayop man gud nato ron is most of us think that call centers is a "for all, be all" solution to the unemployment problem. People here don't see the big picture. If tanan nato mag call center - as is already happening - who will provide services for other aspects of our economy?

Kinsay mag doctor? Kinsay mag nurse? Kinsay mag tindera or kinsa mag engineer?

Gokongwei once prophesized in one of his speeches that the Philippines run the risk of being dependent on other countries for goods and services if we don't start diversifying and producing in our own country. We will be a fully consumer country who rely on others for products because we are unable to produce our own (an outcome of being all call center agents).

So far since he said that, I have seen how more true it is becoming.

Most Filipinos don't see the bigger picture and the long term impact. We should stop living for the moment and plan for our future.

I am against call centers because I am FOR everything else that our country stands for. If there is a solution to be made here it is a demand for better wages in ALL industries.

Remember the saying about not keeping all your eggs in one basket.

That's because India recently pushed for better development in other facets of their country. They are ditching the call center industry all together in favor of IT solutions and such. That is the REAL reason why ni boom atong call center industry.

call center agents provide a service. if you earn enough then you BUY what you need.

As to wages, don't price yourself out of the market. The main reason why companies outsource is PROFITS!

It is not a homegrown service. An example would be tourism and our own crafts.

To clarify, companies outsource because it cuts down costs so they can rake in profits. Greed ra gyud ang motivation ana. Another outcome of that is mass layoffs. BPOs are a cest pool for this type of bubble. Do you really want to be there when it blows up? It's a vicious cycle where only the corporations win and we as a nation lose.

It's time we grow a backbone and demand for higher wages. If everyone wants the same thing the companies will have nowhere to run.

Asa man sila? China? LOL. While china has a higher unemployment status it does hate the west. Plus all that unfounded patriotism has them scoffing at the thought of learning english.

You're not getting the impact of this bai. If you are a consumer country (meaning wala moi products), that means your money is going OUT of the country instead of keeping it in. Naningkamot ug singot ug dugo atong mga OFWs pasulod ug kwarta diri and here we are spending it on products OUTSIDE our nation? (maybe because busy kaayo mo nangandoy anang LV ug Gucci bags and shoes para irampa sa office) Where's the economy for that? patay ta tanan ana.

BPO's are good but then... because of the Increasing number of Contact Centers here... Call Center Hoppers are also Increasing... I think this will somehow affect the business as well...

I am liking the discussion in here, some people are making sensible comments, keep em coming...

On a different note, @Tok, you can do multiple quotes in one post as opposed to making two separate responses.

Thought of mentioning , should help moving forward, good comments , Thanks ...
