Yes you can but it will only show you your current position, location, speed of travel & track. It does not show you road maps, adjacent points & location of interest, traffic restriction, buildings, building address, rivers, creeks...
Though it is a common misconception that a GPS unit needs to be bought from a specific location to work. So to answer your question... ALL GPS receivers should work in our country. At least, it will tell you where you are "YOU ARE HERE" kind of thing, it will tell you your coordinates at a given time and location.
However, for navigation purposes it does not help a lot, unless you use it in conjunction with a paper map or better yet a digital map with your unit.
Btw, CDRking GPS is licensed by Papago with maps that is quite ok being it based on RG (Roadguide) map. They vary in terms of the details and capabilities of the map that they come with or that you can buy for them.
