    the entire 7 blocks of downtown area was razed to the ground of the Great Bacolod Fire in April 1955

    DALAN ARANETA (ARANETA STREET) - Bacolod's main thoroughfare to the south named after Gen.Juan Araneta who's forces marched through this street in November 5, 1898 and had the surrender of the Spanish Governor

    DALAN SAN JUAN (San Juan Street) - the first street of Bacolod (San Sebastian de Bakulod later shortened to Bakulod - means a hill) that runs parallel to the seashore bordering the western side of the Bacolod Public Plaza.
